Thumbs up for Ozone!

I picked up a Sandpoint orp controller used today. Now I see they are out of business. Anyone know where I can get a replacement probe for this controller? I hooked it up and have an orp reading of 174, thinking the probe is no good anymore. What should a normal orp reading be for a tank that's not getting any ozone?
Any feedback on this controller, should I keep it or take it back, is it a good controller? The thing looks like new, not that that tells one anything.

How long did you leave the probe in for before you gave us the reading of 174?

When you received the used unit was the probe tip soaking in solution?

Jason

No, Jason the probe was not in solution, so that's why I thought it needs to be replaced.
It's been in the tank for almost 2 hours.

Sully, Soak the probe in some white distilled vinager for a half hour or so. Give it a brush with a soft toothbrush, rinse it then put it back in the tank, go to bed and see what it reads in the morning.

Let us know :)

Is it normal for the ORP to fluctuate during the day? I know that at night it changes. But i wanted to make sure that it's ok for the reactor to turn on/off during the day hours. I just thought that during the day it would be pretty stable. It would go from 385 to 365, and vice versa. This is the cycle. I want to make sure that the probe is reading correctly.

Thanks.

Today it's reading 254, so soaking in vinegar helped, but is this in range with what it should be?

Sounds about right. Give it a couple days to set in. It'll probably slowly rise some more.

Normal.

The probe does not come in solution. Neither does the ph from milwaukee. They coat it with a solution that actually works better and does not dry out or leak. I asked them this also. Notice that crusty stuff on the plastic piece? (Might of been the ph probe, I can't recall). Either way, it takes about 3 to 5 days for it to calibrate. I had to clean mine again today so it's averaging about 4 to 5 days for me. Annoying but not too bad I guess.

Jay24k,

Is it just me or what, I haven't cleaned my ORP probe once since I purchased it about 1 month ago.

I get clean consistent readings of ORP between 350 mv to 404 mv. It shuts off exactly at 390 each morning at about 1am.

With the milwaukee probe I have calibrated it before when I saw that I was getting a PH of 8.3 to 8.6, that was about 2 months ago.

I haven't calibrated it since and it's consistant from 7.9 , 8.0 in the night to 8.1, 8.3 in the day.

My ph is fine. It's the orp one I have issues with. I will see if they can replace my probe although I feel like it will be like pulling teeth since they alone are like 50 bucks.

Get them to replace it, let them know other users are getting A1 results with zero cleanings since purchase....

I'm not getting A1 results, I have to clean mine every few days as well.

Can someone post pictures of there setup? I have a Euro-Reef skimmer and I am getting the AquaZone Deluxe 200mg Ozone Generator with probe. Do I need anything else? Should I use something over the skimmer collection cup to catch any excess ozone? Where should I place the probe, in the sump?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

You should get the 500 g air drier. Not absolutley necessary but will help with ozone production. Also make sure you get ozone safe tubing and an ozone safe check valve.

My probe is in the main tank but some people put it in the sump.

I just took a container of carbon and drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom and set it on the top of my collection cup.

I use a 500 g dryer. I also had my tip in the main tank and still every 3 days. Milwaukee told me, that you really shouldn't need to clean it for weeks and even every 7 days is too much. Alcohol cleanings only lasted my probe about 2 days and vinegar about 4 tops. I have one of those check valves and I'm gonna probably remove it as it isn't ozone safe. I don't need one anyway as my unit is much higher then the skimmer.

I'm sorry mike, but i have a hard time taking this.

You're the only one I've seen who doesnt need to clean it, and you're also reporting 425+ as your orp. Now, you may be right, but it may also be that you DO need to clean your probe.

Put my milwaukee controller on last night, read 108 initially. When I got up this morning, its ticked up to 265. I thought it was gonna take longer than this to get close...

Question: Anyone notice the dial on their milwaukee unit isnt accurate? I had mine pointing directly at the 150 on the dial, and the ORP was reading 175, and the alarm was still going off.

Anyone got a picture of the connecter from their AC adapter on a Sander ozone unit? I need to buy a new adapter for mine at radioshack tonight, adn want to make sure I get the right connector. Sander's USA distributor hasnt returned my phone calls, or my emails.
