was reading this:

http://www.qualitymarineusa.com/drygoods/ozone.html

and they say to NOT put a check valve between the Sander ozonizer and Venturi... and I see some of you guys doing this.. they say to put a check valve between ozonizer and air pump.

Am I missing something here?

Also, I have my sump in a separate room as my tank...if I place the ozonizer above the sump water level, am I going to be ok with preventing back syphon of water?

o boy, I did a ozone overdose today.
Letting the ozone go as the orp dropped.
It eventually started to rise, but
The corals were NOT happy

how far did it drop?? what do you mean by overdose? Did you smell it in the house?? You may want to move the probe. if it is in the sump try putting it in the tank. it took about a week for me to get the setting on the generator to where things went smooth. now my readings are set at 400-420

thanks all in regards to silica beads. . . next question: for those of you that have done DIY air driers: how big a unit did you make? I'm thinking of getting some clear PVC and making a large unit. . .but I'm not sure how much backpressure my little no-name air pump can handle so what is a practical limit in regards to how much bead-resistance I can stack on top of it.

thoughs?

All my lps were turning inside out.

well, didnt answer any questions. maybe its just not for you. my tank has never been happier. My skimmer skims better. the water is crystal clear and my corals are growing like weeds

I just thought I would chime in. I made an upgrade to my lifereef skimmer in addition to a new ozone generator. I went from 24" to 26" plus ozone. It rocks to say the least.

24" no ozone

36" w/ozone self injected

Question, when your probe starts to get dirty I understand it starts to give a false reading, now is that ORP reading high or low?

Thanks

I have a totaly different problem then most people, i can't keep my ozone level below 420 (and not even adding ozone) I tried 2 different meters, neptune and pinpoint. And my water is not crystal clear, i can see the yellow tint in the water still :(

Have you soaked the orp probe in vinegar for about 1/2 hour, rinsed, and it still is that high? If not do that about once a week and it will be more accurate.

Thankfully it starts to read high.

Yep i soak it atleast once a week if not twice a week and after I soak it, it will go down to 320ish and then in like 1 hour it will jump right back up to 400ish....

It is killing me lol

Have you tried taking some tank water into an old salt bucket or other container and checking it? That could rule out some kind of electrical interference. On my particular orp probe (on an aquacontroller) it has to be w/in so many inches of the temp sensor and so many inches away from all other probes and powerheads etc.

Thanks, that is what I though.... I soaked it yesterday for about 20 minutes and rinsed in RO water and put it back... as I had suspected ORP had dropped, hince the yellowish tinge to the water....

Thanks all

DrBDC - no I have not, i will try that.... I also just put in my new sump in so I am hoping for some different result.

Before in my old sump my temp sensor was right by the the orp. So I am hoping that this clears it up.. Thanks again and I will keep you posted.....
