Thumbs up for Ozone!

I don't know Ted it looks like any tee or the above mixing chamber can release ozone in the home very easily. I need to come up with something more reliable i have my grandkids over all the time and there are 2 and 3 1/2 years old i don't like to get them sick with releasing ozone in the house. When i had my beckett skimmer was easy . Now with the Deltecs it is so easy to release ozone in the house even when i'm careful.
 
I have an idea.. though maybe a dumb one... could you not put activated carbon at the top of that hole? or maybe even inside the pipe where that hole is? That way, air should be able to get sucked in, but ozone will not go out as it will have to pass through the GAC???

You got something there ghever very good idea after adjusting the air pump a small bag of carbon will be good on the top of the hole will kill any escape ozone .
 
wow...my brain still works... lol...hahaha...i am just wondering if air passing through carbon would have a negative effect on the ozone being pumped to skimmer...
 
no air escapes from the hole, in fact, I can hear the air rushing in. If I block the hole with my finger the Deltec starts to buzz from lack of intake air. there is no way air can escape with that type of vacuum. I do use an air pump, the pitiful pic of that is in my gallery. The only ozone I smelled at all was when I first set it up and that was under the stand
 
Well guys i just put the Orp controller probe in the new sump and it is still pushing 412 now. I had it soaking on Vinger for about 1 day while I was putting in my new sump.

I put the probe in and it read 250 and then it went up over night.

Any idea why it would be so high without ozone?

Also there are no other probes near this at all now.

thas really high for no ozone. is your ph real low?? do you have access to another monitor? I have heard of some tanks being around 400 without the ozone. means the tank is really clean which is a good thing!
 
My ph is running right around 8ish... I need to raise it this weekend. The best way is to use backing soda right?

This is the second monitor that i tried. The first one was a milwaukee and now this one is the neptune. The milwaukee was reading right around 450-470 and now this one with the lab grade probe is reading 415-440. I am waiting to get the solution in for the ph part of the nuptune because i think it is a little higher then what it is reading.

Also my water is not crystal clear and i still have some nitrates in there, so to me it should not be that high. You know.

Use a nonmetallic dish bake @350 for one hour. This is what I do,and it bakes off all the CO2. Than mix about 3 table spoons full with RODI water,let stand until clear. Add slowly to sump.

Thanks everyone, I got my new solutiuon coming tomorrow for my meter to see what the ph really is.

If not i will do the baking soda thing. Thank everyone and i will keep you posted.

Well my solution came in and I recalibrated my meter, the ph yesterday when the lights were on was 7.9. So i am starting to add the baking soda (cooked for 1 hour) to the tank to raise the ph.

Do you think that is why my orp is so high?

I will not add to much baking soda PH of 7.9 is not to bad.
many thing is link to a proper PH not only B.Soda.
The amount of C02 in the tank water, how much oxygen is in the air where the tank is , that is all linked together to give you a good PH .
I can open a window i have next to my tank and the ph will shot up to 8.2 from 7.9 in three hours.
You can put is much as BS you want if the oxygen level in the house is not where suppose to be your PH will go right back down again.
PH is not linked with ORP. did you clean your ORP probe lately? if you did not just put some vinegar in a shot glass and let the probe in the vinegar for 15 minutes and it will be clean. you need to clean the probe at lest every two weeks.

Yea i was talking to my friend today and stopped add baking soda. I am just going to stop the my CA at night.

About the ORP, yea I clean it all the time with the vinegar. I don't understand why my orp is so high with ozone.
