Tigahboy's 15S [LPS-only]

Marc - my bank account hates you. =P

and you're no help either, Wendy! hahaha.

j/k. man, this is COMPLETELY different from what I had in mind for this tank, but now I'm totally sucked into this seahorse idea.

HaHa, I'm finding you & marc have the same effect on me! I have a stinkin' dendro polyp on order, and since 1st seeing this thread I've bought 5 single acan lord polyps & 2 color forms of blastos. You guys are creeps!!
:lolspin:
Those seahorses are really cool, but did you see their preferred temp & max size? If I were you I'd start w/these http://seahorse.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=20. Also, I didn't think to ask about the intakes on your pumps/filters. Mine are all covered w/sponges, but I don't know if Marc has his covered or if he's run into a problem. I have seen a seahorse struggle against the intake of my old hangon filter in the 55, so at the least it might be a good idea to create a blockade w/live rock if possible. In the 55 I made a box of plastic canvis which I sewed closed around the intake screen, it created a waterspace of about 1" between the canvas & screen, & sometimes the horses hitched on it w/no further problem. I liked this solution better than sponges b/c the grid is so large that it's not a nutrient trap.

Yeah. I was just kidding. no way could I afford a pair of those anyway.

Erectus vs Kuda pair...what do u think?

Wow, it sounds like you'd get a lot for your money w/the 1st time buyer's special pr. Kuda's. They don't have much info on the website about this new line. If I were you I'd email or call OR to see max size & temp range. I read that there are so many different species commonly called 'kuda', that it's hard to know what type you're looking at when that name is used. If you can afford it, I loved my erectus. Without more specific info from OR I can't really give you my opinion, because the 'kudas' they have may be totally different from the 'kudas' other hobbyists have experience with...

I don't have anything on the intakes, but Casper isn't a tiny horse. She's 3" or more, and the pump's intake is very small around the base. The HOB filter has a strainer, and she holds onto it or lets go easily.

Got this micromussa as 6 polyp frag earlier this year. Has well over 20 heads now (hard to count all of them).

Tigah, could you possibly add up the cost of your system? I'd love to do something like this but would need to know roughly the cost so that I can save up :)

very nice tigah. i haven't been keeping close tabs on the reefing world lately, but do u still have your 6g. nc running? That was one of my favorite tanks.

Tigah if I read everything correctly, you don't have any more fish in there? So now you are leaning for a seahorse? Best wishes for whatever you put in there and I can't wait to see it.

Sounds like it. I've heard alot of unexplained deaths w/wild caught ones. Plus, the CB ones are so expensive you'd definitely know if you were getting them :).
