Tiger goby disappearance

Last night I bought a tiger goby. When I finished dripping I released him and I noticed my figure 8 puffer chasing him for a few seconds. The goby immediately found a cave to hide in. Now my puffer is small, about the size of a juvenile clown. This morning I woke up and the goby wasnt in his cave I figured he had just moved. After watching the tank for about a half hour I decided to check the floor thinking somehow he jumped. Nowhere on the floor not in the sump. I'm thinking he is either hiding or the puffer ate him somehow. I didn't notice the puffers stomach looking full like it does after I feed him so I feed the tank after a garlic soak. No goby anywhere. Is It normal for gobies to hide at first or is it possible my figure 8 ate him? I couldn't see the puffer eating a fish twice his size.

He could definitely be hiding, however you may want to rethink the puffer, they are very aggressive and may always pick on the goby until he ends up hiding and starving to death

I have tried several times. It is my wife's fish. If you are married then you will know I can't get ride of it lol.

I know the feeling, not saying I dont like it, but it would not have normally been in my tank, my wife made me get a yellow eye kole tang

I have never owned one of them so I am not sure, but from all the stories I have heard about them, you are screwed, they are just tiny little terrors.

Clowns are quite aggressive themselves and that is probably why, If you added a damsel he would also probably be okay but then you are going in a way that really limits what fish you can have

I feel like if he was hiding i would have seen him somewhere. I'm at this point chalking this up as a $50 loss.

I wouldn't chalk it up yet, it can take a couple days before you see him. If you don't see him with in a week then assume he's dead

came home from work today and found him making burrows. he is still very sketchy when he sees movement. but at least i know he is allive. I hope i can get him to eat later.

my wife said she went down to look and the goby somehow managed to jump onto the top glass. I put eggcrate around the small opening in the back and he still found a way out!!

now i need to find something to sift the sand that my puffer wont eat
