i keep trying to feed him pellets soaked in garlic and selcon. i mix the large thera A and the small thera A. he doesn't touch the small pellets but he goes after the big pellets but then he picks at it a few times and then swims away. i also tried a small piece of clam. i am going to try rods food when i get home and see if he likes that. should i be worried? thanks!

I would not be worried at the moment. A centropyge can take many days to settle into a feeding regime. As mentioned before - try Mysis. Also, brine shrimp is great to entice fish. Obviously, only use brine at the very beginning to get the fish eating. It is not a substantial food source. If it goes for the brine add some crushed pellets to the next feeding.
It is a beautiful fish. I hope it does well for you.

i tried mysis. same thing as the pellets. he nibbles on them and then swims away. i don't have brine but i'll pick that up from the store later.

Whne I hear that the fish is denying food I immediately think that there is something in your tank that is bothering the fish (ich, flukes, or other parasites)

I was thinking the came thing :( Not eating is a sign of stress. Good luck.

she's still fat and looks healthy. he must be eating. ALL my acans are gone. i had maybe 20 polyps and now i have 1 or 2 left. she hasn't really eaten much since day 1 so i don't think it would be a parasite then? even if there was a parasite i don't think it would affect her in a day? and she ate a few of the smaller pellets today. maybe 4-5.

ok i was getting worried about it not eating but i tried rods food soaked in garlic and it ate a good amount. it will only eat the small pieces though? it ignores the larger pieces.

Try chopping the food up in a blender or by hand into smaller pieces similar to the size it was eating. Good luck.

IME, dwarf angels have smaller mouths then it would appear that they have. Really noticed that with my Potter's pair, even the larger one would only eat the smaller sized pieces of Rod's food. Would try, in vain, to eat the bigger ones, only to give up after a minute or two.
