Time to get my Butt in Gear, new tank

great thread, Brandon....i love the suspended canopy (and yes, it does look a little like a salad bar right now) but this is going to be SUPERB. Can't wait!

haha thanx guys, salad bar, im going to kill mark.

the tank wont be cycled from start. I have a 75 gallon tank im transferring over to the new tank. i cant wait either. but first things are first. i have to get that stand level!

Are you kidding? He's one of those nut job triathletes.....I can't out run him, he's got the metabolism of a field mouse. I'm putting on my camo and hiding in the woods....

LMAO! He is, and he'll bike for about 60 miles in the middle of the woods to find you.

so the tank SHOULD be decently leveled. Pascal(blurry) and i took down the tank, and laid a big bead of liquid nails down under the oak trim pieces and set the tank down on top of the trim with liquid nails. We filled it half full and will be letting it cure for a day or 2. we were worried about liquid nailing the tank to the stand so we put garbage bags under the tank to be removed when the tank is drained and cleaned for the official salt water filling tuesday.

Glad to help out today.

One of the great pleasures of this hobby is meeting the local folks. So much to learn from everyone. Take Brandon for example, not only an experienced reefer, but a master craftsman to boot.

here are some pictures of the finely crafted table used to hold his sump:

Man, I've been yearning for some Chinese buffet ever since I saw that tank sitting there...

umm jay switch that info about your tank please. You "downsized" remember?

thanx pascal. It worked though, you friggin' engineer

glad it's better. I got to thiking you might still have pressure points because we used the tank to flatten the stand. A thing strip of high density foam should take care of it now that you are likely within 1/32 to 1/64th flat.

That sump stand is very impressive. I especially like the two close-up pics. Gives a more detailed look at some of the finer points.
Really made me smile :) :)

gettin jittery, got the new sump stand built and NOT just thrown together like the last one. This one doesnt even wobble!. heres my plan as of now.

Work to 1130
go home and finish connecting the plumbing lines that were cut due to stand
stick heater in my 30 gallons of saltwater cooking
final leveling job
drink some beer:beer:
play xbox
get up 8 am
wash out all my new aragonite
Stop old 75 system
take water out of sump and place in new DT
Take 30 gallons of new mixed heated saltwater and place in new DT
have a beer:beer:
then.......yeaaaaa, the fun of transferring and ripping apart my old system

my plan since ive been having a lot of STN going on in my old tank, is to cut and frag a bunch of my colonies when i move them. I might just move everything as is, THEN frag tomorrow or something like that. I will be removing a majority of my caps including my massive skin colored orange cap that has since lost all of its color due to flow and alk issues in the old system. I will keep a wing of it to regrow.

here starts the fun people !

just caught up on this one. Mark, too funny. And..."finely crafted table".

wow.

Have fun Brandon, keep us posted. Was there beer involved in the finely crafted table, too? :spin2::beer:

well its going on 230am and im still playing xbox and drinking beers. on my 5th. ya sticking to my schedule so far!
