Tiny star's=bad for zoas?

I have tons of tiny black/white/grayish star fish in my tank and lately I've noticed them on the base of my zoas and my zoas are staying closed up.Are these bad,r they eating my zoas?I don't have a pic,but I'm sure everyone knows what I'm talking about.Is there a fish I could get to eat these little guys up?

I am pretty sure these are bad. They are like tiny asterinas. I just picked up a frag of some eagle eyes yesterday and found one on them. I did a FW Lugols dip today to make sure they were all dead and gone. Not sure if it is the astrerina that will eat them but id rather be safe than sorry.

I have seen posts where folks swear they are eating their zoas. At the very least, they are an irritant. I'd pick them off as you find them.

There's too many different types of asterina stars and too hard to tell them apart. Some will eat zoas and some won't, but since you can't distinguish it's best to just remove them just incase

if you have lots of Z's and P's with some being probably worth $$$$$, why risk leaving some in until you find out which one those stars really are? I chuck em if I ever find one. No chances taken.

Try getting a harlequin shrimp that should help out alot

When I got my tank I had tons of those little white starfish. I'm happy to say that they're almost all gone now that I've put a harlequin shrimp in the tank.

if you see a bunch of them on your colonies that are dissapearing, not looking good etc.... I'd take them out.

I too had 1 appear then as i began to notice them i seen hundreds, did research like you are now and purchased a Harlequin Shrimp as mentioned above. Sweet shrimp! pricey but awesome to watch, he destroyed the stars in a week or two and now i'm looking to PIF him to another reefer or i'll have to keep feeding it Chocolate Chip stars. PIF to a local reefer

ok i just took one off my baby zoa and it was eating it!!!! when i took it of brown slim came out and all chewed up gdi!!!!!!!!

Try getting a harlequin shrimp that should help out alot

My rule with those little white stars is that if they climb on my polyps then they die. I've only had to remove 3 or 4 and I don't know if they were eating em or not but they broke the rules.
