Tips and Tricks to Help My BTA Host My Clown?

Most people will say time. I printed out 8 pictures of giant clownfish and it scared the clownfish enough that they went into the anemone. Someone told me this trick to just tape pictures of clownfish or other fish around the tank. It worked for me but it still took a week.

Is your clownfish hosting in anything right now? If so, removing it (the non-anemone host) may speed up the process.

What's worked for me on 2 occasions was keeping them in a small area together. I acclimated my GBTA and percs together and they hopped in. Another time, i kept the bta and clown in a little quarantine bin together in the main DT and after a while he hosted.

Try keeping them in a small, but not too tiny, area together. One of those critter keepers from a petsmart worked for me.

Would it work if I put a 10g divider and put them as close as possible to one side of the aquarium?

I am not a fan of "forcing" clown to host by putting them in a confined space with an anemone -- sure it might work, but if the clowns aren't ready they very well could end up eaten.

I apologize for my poor wording, or attempts at conveying the message. When i've done it, the clowns have enough room to swim around and avoid the nem if they please. Not a small enough area to cramp them together, but one with less distractions so the clown notices the Nem.

I bought a decent sized one of those, so that the nem can hang in some rock on the side and the clown can swim around the tank.

Try putting a flashlight on the Nem after the tank lights have gone out. This method has worked for some, When the Nem Is lit up the fish seem to be attracted to It and head straight for It. It can't hurt anything and may just solve your problem. Hope It helps.

I was told to tape pics of clowns in nems onto the tank and they will learn that they are supposed to go into them.... well I put the pic up on the side of the tank and within 3-4 days they were checking out the nem.... not sure if it worked or they were finally curious..

My captive-raised clowns took two weeks before hosting my GBTA. Though, the day they hosted it was the day I decided to quarantine all fishes for ick. Hopefully, they will go back to the gbta when I put them back in my display tank.

I've always found this hilarious. Not that I think it doesn't work, but that the concept is just funny to me. I might have to try that same tactic for spawning LOL!

What has worked for me is to find a friend who breeds clarkii and add a little tiny one to the tank. Clarkiis go into anything. So, when your clowns see another clown hosted in the nem that is smaller they will kick him out and claim it for themselves. Jealous little buggers.

Then the clarkii either becomes a sump fish or else goes to the LFS for store credit.

So Clarkiis are wild bred or captive bred? cuz usually captive bred, they do not know what an anemone is lol

So they idea to to tape pictures of clowns near the anemone you wish them to host in? would this work if they've already found a host?

Hey being newbie... I tried whatever was suggested...lol It was dumb having a pic taped to the outside of the tank.. :)

i was having the same problem my clowns paid no attention to my rbta, after about 3 weeks i woke up one day and there he was hanging out in the nem. so i can now say just give it time! patience x2 is all you need.
