Tips on upgrading to bigger tank. Please!!

Eddie you can try screwing the pump to the stand...I had the same problem with my old pump and somebody told me to drill it down so it wouldn't vibrate as much..and also that person told me his old pump did the same thing and ended up loosing the plumbing and water go out..gasman059 is right..those pumps are loud no matter what!Try to work on the tank when LFS are open! You don't want something to happen and everybody is close...(i hope nothing bad happen)and last thing I'm not a big fan of those check valve..the home depot ones..I like the other one.. the clear one which u can take apart without cutting anything...i got one in my tank and im super happy with it..btw....the tank looks great!!

The turbo start = hogwash IMO.

I've never found any of this products to be nearly as effective or as useful as they claim to be, granted I've never used turbo start but other similar methods IMO take away from the real cycle and must of all from your wallet with only a placebo effect if nothing else, it just makes u feel better.

Perhaps Brett has more experience with the porduct.

I have used it several times and never had a cycle. Ive had good luck with it. Even set up tanks and put fish in them with in a few days and never had issues. But in this hobby we all know we have our own, different opinions and experiences! what works for some may not work for all!! But Ive had great luck with the product!!

Thanks for the kind words.

Would have gotten Reeflo but redrilling tank and or sump is not an option. Decided to get a PanWorld 50PX-X, 1100 gph (equiv to Iwaki 30) I know Panworld is not top of the line, but supposedly decent enough. They "are built by a former chief engineer from Iwaki-Japan. It basically has the same specifications such as flow curves, high head pressure and reliability.". 2 year warranty, it it goes out before that ill consider other options. Will probably sell Iwaki 70 here on RC.

Most inportanly no redrilling sump or tank, sanme fittings.

I agree with check valve, i ordered clear check valve with true union, both pump and valve should be here tommorrow. Ill need some minor adjustments to plumbing but hopefully not much.

Hopefully move will occur this weekend!!

Well..successfully moved 65G a few feet to another wall. Swapped the iwaki 70 with a Panworld 50px-x (1100gph). Quieter, less consumption. Now I can make move, hopefully this weekend, without having to totally dismantle at once. (BTW- those furniture sliders from HD really work well, 3,200lbs). second bulkhead in sump will later be plumbed for water changes.

Plumbing done. PVC pipes in wall leads to an adjacent closet, wher i installed a shelf for ballasts, wired a new GFCI on a separate power cirquit to not overload one line. this closet will also house ATO Kalk reservoir, and chiller if needed. Each one of those PVC pipes are 3". That cpvc manifold will runn gfo and charcoal reactors when used, others can be added for chiller and CA reactor in future. For those that need a nice power strip, i got thast one at Lowes for 20 smthing bucks. 40 inches long 10 plugs that fit transformers.

Almost forgot....The skimmer is in. Sorry no BK. Couldnt justify a skimmer that would cost more than my upcoming trip to Vegas. :D

It's looking good! Lets see some water in that bad boy already :D

Are you keeping the bioballs in the sump?

I am so jealous that you have that closet area behind your tank. It seems so convenient.

Marvin- hopefully this weekend!!

I know they have a bad reputation but small quantity of submerged bioballs does not bother me. I actually think the are good in minimizing microbubbles. If nitrates creep up that will be the first course of action.

Closet is great. A few feet behind it is a wall leading outside. This might be a good route for easy waterchanges in the future.

Ok...so I finally did it. Transferred all my livestock to the 120gallon. Started at 7am, finished at 6pm, no help except for my teennage son helping me move 2 35 gallon tank garbage cans with saltwater from garage to area next to tank before going to work. Its hard to imagine how many corals i had packed in that 65. After spreading them out into this other tank, i have very little room for others.

Here are a few shots less than 24 hours after i was done. i am happy to say..no losses as of now. as i acclimate to new lights (240W to 900W) and new tank we hope it stays that way. Im also imressed with the flow. main pump, vortech and a k4= somewhere near 5000pgh for a 120. I might need to cut back a bit for lps...ill see. :p

Thanks to all that advised on this thread. And of course thanks to the boys at CRF....

I'm assuming you used the furniture sliders on the 65gal tank?? How did you get them under the stand without draining the tank?!? It sounds like the perfect way to move my 55gal out of the way so I can get the 90gal setup in its place.

Yes I removed approx 35 gals (1 Brute garebage can) out. then the sliders where possible. they worked very well. I got the ones the have carpet type material that slides over them, they where the only ones that mentioned wood floors.

Sorry to bring this thread back up to the top, but I had a PM, from someone that wants info on my 120G from a few years ago with the 40G breeder as a sump.
