Tnt's 154 G SPS reef build

Hi Sahin :) ,

Shame on me , that i didn't update the thread. :deadhorse:
Will try to update asap , it's been very bussy again times for me.
In this time i experienced wet feet 2 times :( , one time due to power failure and the other time it was my fault due to setting my skimmer to wet (lossing 33 l water in my living room over night !!
You can imaging how much my wife liked that :hmm3:
But still my tank is doing great.
TRy to post pictures one of these nights...

greetingzz tntneon :)

Ah sorry to hear about the problems.

With regards to the water on the floor:

1. power down: I have anti siphone holes on my return. In the event of power failure, only a small amount of water siphones back into the sump because of the anti siphone holes. The sump also has enough spare capacity to deal with the excess water from the siphone back in the event of power failure. I tested many times and it works fine.

2. Skimmer: My skimmer is based inside my sump. I dont have a skimmer cup drain line. Both of these two things ensure that should the skimmer overflow, it will overflow into the sump. Worst thing is therefore a weeks wort of skimmate causing nutrient increase.

Anyway, hope things are going well. Look forward to the photos.

hi reefers :) ,
at last i found the time too post some pictures as a attachement.
@sahin hi patient friend :o , sorry to reply so late but was very bussy at tnt's house :hmm5:

-I'm gonna buy me a skimlocker that shuts skimmer off when high level is reached

-The sump has enough spare volume to handle the extra water comming from DT , but when electricity goes back on the level at the skimmer is to high and then the beast bursts skim like a volcano spits lava !

here some recent pictures

The previous picture from the purple nana acro (26 feb 2013), you've got to compare with the first picture of the nana acro in my 154 G (aug 2012).
it's about 6 month's of growth ...
I'm very happy :fun4:

I have my skimmer on a float switch, so when the sump is too high, it turns the skimmer off, then comes back on when level is correct, has saved me from overflows and getting all that nasty stuff back in tank, good great by the way.

THX guys :) ,

@bmulkin :
That is a good solution to the problem , and like you said the gunk will already be overflowed to collection cup due to the rising of the level and when reached a real high level it shuts the skimmer down , like your idea more than the floatswitch on the skimlocker.

@tonytboss :

-My poccilopora already spawned and now i have 6 new baby pocci's on the backwall :smurf:
I want to place other corals on it too but glueing them onto the wall isn't easy , but i gonna try it with some small frags (is easier due to lower weight) .
