to much flow?

You can probably get away with it. I'm a big advocate of never having enough flow until your fish are smashing up against the glass. You could always put them on a wavemaker and have them run in cycles if its worrying you. You could definately also get away with just 1.

Agree. Wavemaker would be ideal. On a natural reef the flow as we would call it is quite strong. I believe in strong currents in a reef tank myself. 1600gph in a 30gl is not too much as long as it is used correctly.
Best to watch them and if any are being buffeted about in one direction might be best to reconfigure the flow directions.
A wave maker would be he ideal way to go, timed 10-30 seconds for each powerhead.
