I'm thinking of putting a gig or mag in my 24 by 24 by 12 inch tank. Do u think the tank is too short or can i get away with it?

Also, out of curiosity besides 0 nirtate and high ph what other paremeters should i strive for to keep these nems?

-thanks.

I hope not, because I'm in the process of setting up two of them.

In terms of parameters, you want to keep your tank like you would an SPS tank. Bright light, high flow, and clean water as you mentioned.

are parameters such as alk, calcium, mag important as in an sps tank

No, but they definitely thrive in such an environment. I find many anemones to prefer low nitrates, but are not particularly sensitive to elevated phosphate levels like sps. Mags especially tend to wander if nitrates go over 20 ppm or so.

FWIW, I would think you system would be better suited to a gig than a mag. Some mags get pretty tall once they become happy. That being said, they can be found in tidal zones just like gigs are. These areas are often exposed to air and shallow waters.
