toad stool?

My boss bought a large toad stool from our lfs about 2 months ago, She had it in her 55 for about 1month, She said it came out when the lights were on for about the first week that she had it then for 3 weeks it never came back out. The toad stool was 70.00 and she did not want it to die so she gave it to me. Now in my tank it will get a little bit bigger when i turn the lights on. Then about 6 hours into lighting it goes to bed while all the other corals are still fully out. But it still does not realease its small little fingers from its base and will not grow to its original size. I also currently have two toadstools in my tank right now that are doing great everyday. Does anyone have any Ideas why this one does not want to fully come out. Thanks

You might have better luck in the soft coral section, a toadstool is not a LPS.

However, they can be finicky, moody corals. Is it just not opening? They go through spells and usually it's nothing to worry about it. My green tentacle toadstool will be open for a week, then close for a week.

What are some of the tank paramenters, both yours and your bosses? Moving from the LFS to the first tank, then from there to yours, it's a lot of stress and the coral may just be unhappy.

What kind of lighting was it under at the LFS? How about your bosses tank? Is there anything irritating the coral? Fish, crabs, etc. My trio of clown gobies lives in my toadstool, took it a little while to get used to them.

It sounds like it's just stress, but post this in the soft coral section as well, I'm sure they'll have some suggestions!
