Toadstool leather and Devils hand question

Hello,

Both the Toadstool and Green Devil's Hand keep shedding. I know they are supposed to do that, but mine do it about every Week. I have been re-arranging and I guess They don't like to be moved. I also dose Iodide/Iodate from Salifert and test with Their kit. The Iodide is .03 currently according to the test kit.

The polyps will appear for a Day, then they get all shiny and shed soon afterwards.

Too much Iodine? Too much dinking around with them? Too much light; are They getting sunburn't?

I have them under Radion 30 led fixture; I think the par is 300 or so last I checked. They are near or at the top.

Salinity 1025
ph 7.91 avg.
AK 9.5 dkh
Calcium = 425
Magnesium = 1360 or so.
Nitrates = .05
Phosphates = 0.00
Silicates = 0.00

Thanks!

maybe too much light ..they dont need lots of light..also stop moving around leave alone for a while...give lots of flow for when they shed it will help...not sure about the iodine tho...never used..

Had a similar thing happen with a new Devils hand. It has been nearly a month and it finally seems to be settling in. It would shed look great and the next day it repeated the same thing. My local LFS keeps their tanks at 1.019 SG. My tank is at 1.025. One of the things leathers seem cranky over is SG. change. Be patient and good luck.

Too much light shouldn't be a problem. Keep in mind that these leathers are found in locations similar to where sps corals are found. Also I don't think that LED lights emit uv rays, so they shouldn't be getting sunburnt either.

Thanks for the reply. I agree that LEDl ligjts probably dont emit enough UV to make a difference. My local LFS guy seems to think I may be dosing too much trace elementd etc. Never thought of it that way. I am going to not dose for at least one shed cycle (a few days) to see if that makes a difference. If so I will report back and let others know. Thanks again!

are you sure you need to dose? I have softies and lps and I don't dose anything. my leathers shed every now and then, but not like yours.

The interesting thing is my sinularia maybe ten inches downstream from the new devils hand is lovin' life. Always extended and eating like a horse. Believe it or not the silly thing is almost a foot tall. Go
figure right?
