Todd's Torch confirmation?

Hey guys... I've heard this is the group that first got their hands on this lovely specimen. I picked up my torch and it looked like this.......

I picked this up locally as a regular run of the mill torch for a few bucks and as it grew, I could never find another one like it locally at any LFS to compare to, then I ran into a thread talking about TT.....

Any opinions would be appreciate, I'm just curious if this is what I really have :-) Thanks everyone, keep up the great work!

It's a beauty for sure, but honestly I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone that could positively i.d that specimen as anything other than what it is...a great looking piece!

There are plenty of look-alikes and unfortunately, if you really care, the only way to know for sure if it was TT would be through lineage.

todds torch has blue/purple tips and a lighter body. I have seen variations in body color under different lightning that resulted in a darker green than mine. Gorgeous piece. That rat of growth is far beyond anything I have ever experienced - what are your water levels, filtration, feeding, and fish load (sorry for all the questions!

I have two pieces under different lightning - both look like this (cell picture)

There is definetly a LOT of purple, just my camera and iPhone can't snap good pictures.... I've never been able to find another torch like this locally and had some guys in my local club tell me I have a Todd's Torch (hence why I'm here).

Either way, it's a hell of a piece, I love it... It just keeps growing like crazy. I'll try to get some better pictures at some point.

i've seen several come in from the solomon islands that are dead ringers. TT get's a ton of hype /controversy around here. photo id's are almost Worthless IMO. this torch can and does look completely different ,depending on multiple factors. condsider yourself lucky, and buy green torch with purple tips. or get in line, and dump $100 a head .

I don't think it's TT. The tips on this one look more yellow than purple. It's length and movement look very similar. Cool torch!

You'll definitely want to send me some so that I can take a closer look ;)

Yeah not a Todd's IMO, also I've never heard of Todd's doubling in size, six times over in nine months. That's insane growth!

OK, well appreciate all of the feedback on my Torch. This guy has absolutely multiplied like crazy.. Must be my water conditions, flow, and lights! He's a happy LPS in this tank.

It's one of the favorites for visitors as it looks like stringy pasta just flowing back and forth.

There are too many things that factor into id'ing a coral just by a picture (lighting, camera, photographer, etc...)

With that being said, regarding your piece, I really think it could go either way.

But like others have said, the only way to know for sure is through a lineaged piece.

This is mine, and it can be traced to the original. Looking at yours I don't think it is todd's but hard to tell without looking at it in person.

its a very nice looker and just so difficult as to an ID . i really wonder how askew the TT is now from all of its popularity and there's always someone trying to make a quick buck claiming fame and fortune .IMO you just never know and its to expensive to do a DNA test to find out so be happy you have a beautiful torch .
