Tomato and Cinnamon Clownfish pair?

Is it possible for a tomato and a cinnamon clownfish to pair up? They were both sold to me as tomato clownfish but with all the research I have done there is no doubt in my mind that they are not both tomato clowns. They get along fine but they don’t seem to be paired up all of the time. Is there a possibility that they will pair up and breed or should I try to find them a match? The tank is only 50g so I don’t know how two pairs will do together.

Since one hasn't killed the other yet, you'll probably have a pair eventually. Being different species is not an issue.

The second I put them in the tank they were rubbing against each other and appeared to pair up. They never fight but they do not seem to be paired up personality wise compared to clowns I have had in the past. The cinnamon is the larger more dominant fish but doesn’t show any aggression whatsoever towards the tomato. I was unaware they could pair with other species of clowns. Thanks for the advice.

There are four species that I can think off the top of my head that can be called Tomato clown - Amphiprion frenatus, A. ephiprium, A. melanopus, A. barberi. Common names are not always accurate

Although, I agree common names are terrible ways of ID'ing clowns, there are three different definitive common names given to the first three of the four species you named, with only A. frenatus being commonly known as a tomato clown.

I agree, but amongst non clown people I have seen all these species offered as tomatos - for years barberi was confused as frenatus.
