Went snorkeling in about 9-15 feet of water right in our back yard in ft lauderdale, found hundreds, if not thousands of SPS! I was a kid in candy store.

Not to mentions sea turtles, nurse shark, angel fish, and tons of life.

That was a pleasant escape from being home bound.

Im not sure if some of these were planted via coral restoration, but im sooo glad to see real coral around here.

:dance:

Went out Port Everglades, took a left, then traveled north.

Dont touch them thieves! ( ;

Will bring camera next time.

my cousin and uncle have diving gear and my uncle never goes, so my cuz said he'll teach me. So we are gonna practice in his pool this weekend, so hopefully we get out there soon. =)

Hey next time you go hmu, I have snorkeling gear w/ flippers. I have a few extra masks and snorkels too.

he's certified, has over 200 dives, just hasn't gone in a while. so what's the difference? you only need to be certified to rent gear.

Because if you are going to embark on an adventure that will potentially put your life in danger, you should get the proper training. It's like a right of passage. It's not rocket science, nor do I remember all of what I learned when I got certified, but I'm still glad I did it. JMHO:beer:

He's not an instructor. Do it right. Mistakes while diving are lethal.

BTW, despite my having 1000's of dives under the belt, I still had my daughter take a certification course from an instructor instead of teaching her myself. That's how important it is to do it right.

Pool ok, but take a course before hitting the ocean.

The ocean is not like a pool. It also has other factors that can come into play. Will you know what to do if your regulator stops working, or you run out of air? What happens if you mask gets flooded? Will you recognize the symbols your dive buddy is communicating to you with?

As Jimbo or someone else mentioned. It's not hard, but it is important.

I will be teaching some people in the next few months and there is still room to join in. PADI class.

Learning from an instructor is important. Just because someone knows how to do it very well does not mean they know how to teach it. I also refuse to teach anyone who is close enough to me that it may affect their ability to listen to me objectively and not personally.

A great instructor and class will help you fall in love with SCUBA. A mediocre experience can plant fear and anxiety. A sub standard experience will kill you.
