Too bright for duncan or overwhelmed by new growth

I recently upgraded my light to the coral compulsion 14w par30 18k bulb. Its a little more than a foot above the tank (4gal) and the duncan is on the top of the main rock. The main structure is about 3 inches below the water line.

Since the upgrade in Feb the Tentacles went from 3/4 inch when open to 1/4. There are two separate colonies with the same reaction. On the other hand they both have 5-6 baby heads growing simultaneously.

think like this when there under high light they stay a little compact less pe..less light will open them up...there sutch food hogs so you can move them down..mine has been threw 3 tanks now..and i kinda threw them in back on the bottom and there still growing like mad..there very hardy...

I have better luck with the Duncan being in low to moderate light and low to moderate flow. I have mines on the sandbed in a 24 inch deep tank with T5 light fixture. Fully expanded and growing new heads

I kind of hate to move therm while all the new head are developing. Plus they are pretty well glued to the main rock.

I think I'll just give them time for now

Also I just noticed you just upgraded lights. That might be the problem, they have to get acclimated to the new light fixture. Also that light fixture might be too bright for them, meaning you might have to the Duncan down to mid-way or bottom third of your tank.
