Too Much Flow?

Does anyone else's fish dislike water movement?

My fish hide all the time when the circulation pump is on. Only have a neon goby and a royal gramma at this point. 29 gallon with Hydor Koralia Nano 565gph (19X).

I switched to a Hydor Koralia Nano 240gph (8X). They come out of hiding, but never venture far from home. If I turn off the circulation pump they constantly explore the tank hunting down pods. No sump just a HOB Reef Octopus Classic 1000 which is 92gph.

You pretty much answered your question. Only run the 240 gph and the HOB. They'll get use to it.

As far as them not exploring and hanging close to home, once you add a couple more fish that will stop. Right now they're scared because they don't see other fish which means DANGER in the ocean

I would also check for stray voltage in the tank when the pumps are on... sounds like they may be uncomfortable when the pumps are on and I don't mean because of the flow. I have had over 250xs turnover within a DT before and all fish were always out

royal grammas don't stray from their cave too much. i have one. they usually don't hunt pods like a wrasse does. it is out but usually right around its cave and comes out when i feed. i have a BC29 and had a wp-10 on it until that died and now have a rw-4 on its lowest setting. i had a koralia 425 on a 20 and a BC14 and it was fine, so i think the 565 should be fine in your tank.
It really depends on what corals you have. if you have sps, they love more flow.

I alternate my flow on a tidal pattern like you find it in nature.
During the high flow periods most fish seek shelter.
During the low flow periods they come out more.
