I have a 250w 14k mh and the anemone is right under it. About 12" from the light. The anemone was deep red when I first got it, now it's bubbled up and more like bright red orange color.

mine was under about 14" i had 20k, alittle dimmer then 14k... but it was okay... mine was uder a rock but it turned out the side and got lots of light... but it could go back into the shade when needed...

it was there for a month before i moved it when i aquascaped...

i think you shoudl just let it move? just make sure it is eating like previously mentioned...

This is him the first day I got him. 10" lower from his current spot.

And this is him 5 minutes ago and he's twice the size compared to the first day.

And here's a full tank shot, it's a regular 50g truvu tank.

I'm just guessing here, but if it's eating and otherwise looks healthy, I don't think you have anything to panic about at the moment. The color change could be an adjustment period.

I'm sure others will chime in with opinions once the sun comes back up. ;)

Thanks. I was just worried about having too much light. Do you know what happens or what the anemones do when they ARE getting too much light.

Their color will turn translucent AKA bleached.

I keep my roses under a 400w SE 10k and 2 actinic supplements. I have 1 clone less than 2 inches below water line, and the halide is about 10 inches off the water. I have a colony of 5 that are about 6 inches below water line.

Just don't take one that has been under PC or T5/VHO and blast them with a 400w. They take a little time to adjust. Yours looks great, the color may shift to orange/red under a higher temp bulb 14-20k.

BTW, NICE TANK!

It could be at the bottom there is more blue color from the light, which makes it look more orange/red, but at the top it recieves more yellow/white light, which makes it look more orange than red. When my 10k's are on, mine looks like flourescent orange, but when they go off and just my actinics are on, it looks like a dark beautifull red.

V good point. I'd imgaine the bubbling has spread the colour out and made the tenticles look fainter too.

Beautiful nem! :D

Ok I'm pretty sure that my anemone was starting to bleach. Yesterday it was lighter compared to the picture. Also even when the lights are off and only the room lamp is on you can tell that the tentacles closest to the light are pink and lighter than the other half. And so I took the anemone out (broke the rock, then glued it back together :) ) and put him where the red montipora cap was. I'll keep you guys updated.

Thanks for the help

Bad move...

At the MOST you should have screened out some of the light over the anemone to see if it makes a difference...moving it will only stress it out, and odds are it won't stay where you put it.

I know, that's what I'm most worried about is that it'll start moving.

I couldn't stand the fact that it was bleaching so I didn't care and moved it. But then after, I got really worried up until now.

I'll take a picture of it in couple of days if it stays in the spot its in right now. Should I try feeding it today or tomorrow?

Feed it every other day or every couple of days. Make sure you've nem-proofed your powerheads, intakes, and overflows.

Seriously, the best thing for you to do would be to use several layers of nylon screen to shade the anemone, and over the course of a couple of weeks remove the layers one by one so that the anemone has a chance to acclimate itself to your lighting.
