Took the kids to the bay area and passed by RR

My kids pretty much stayed home most of their spring break so I decided to take them to the bay area for a change. FYI, I grew up in the bay area (union city), went to New Haven Middle and graduated at James Logan High school. We visited my sister that still lives there. I figured why not take them to Reef Raft on a Saturday afternoon. On our way, the traffic in 880 south brought back memories. I worked in Fremont at a semiconductor company for 6 years during the dot.com boom. Reef raft was pretty much in the same area.

That store was hard to find. We roamed all over the parking lots to get there.

My first impression, cozy and inviting.

The first thing that caught my eye is the peninsula tank with the 3 Aquaillumination Hydra 52s. Went pass the 300 gallon in the main lounge.

You would think that I would go straight to the acropora coral flats but my eyes directed me to go to the cube tank with the steel stand. My daughter went with me. Hey it's on sale!

More cad lights tank. I guess the whole store is sporting cad lights.

Fish only with plastic decoration. As colorful as those plastic inserts to an average bystander, I would use them all as kindling. I could never warm up to them. Might as well use those synthetic rocks with fake purple coralline algae instead.

Note to self. The plastic inserts do not need radion pros.

I was told they like to use DD H2Ocean salt for all of their systems.

They carry all cad lights skimmers and equipment too.

Dear god that last pic looks like the weight is going to break the egg crate. Crazy. Is it really that blue in the store? Looks very nice and clean. Loved the cube!

Better, yes.. but I am still to poor to shop there. Love my colored sticks but they seem to like them even more ;) .. lol.. j/k. Would be nice to have a RR dominant sps display area in my DT..

its great getting the kids to the store too....i love it. i try to get my fam to go to the city, but i just get accused of wanting to go to fish stores...

good work on the pics.

I think a lot of the acros are maricultured. I would hit up the local reefers first. The store will get better through time. I took pictures using an iPhone 5 so I can't adjust for the white balance. I will bring my dslr when I get back there.
