I guess, if it's the only fish. They don't get any bigger than a damsel or chromis, and don't really need all the swimming space, but they are messy eaters and would require good water quality.

I can't say "NO". There's a recommendation of 30g. Puffers aren't huge open water swimmers like damsels/chromis/clowns, so it's possible, I would guess. I wouldn't put anything else in there though.
This would be an awesome fish to have. I've read they have a problem with their teeth growing without being ground down like they would on the reef. They need a food with a shell of some kind to grind away their constantly growing teeth.

Since it is essentially a "mini" puffer, I see very little problems with their teeth. I can't imagine it's mouth being any bigger than a clowns.

Now a puffer that gets 12+", I KNOW they need hard foods, because I've caught them many times on the flat's (skinny water) here on the FL coast.

I have seen some frozen tiny clams at asian market I think it will be perfect food for the puffer. I will go grab a bag and post some pictures later.

Anything meaty will be suffice.

What kind of puffer is it?

6 fish in a 12g tank? :eek1: That is a HUGE bioload!!

If you count correctly its 5. And my clean up crew does a great job 2 turbos, 3 emarlds, 1 cleaner shrimp, and many trochuses!! Fish have been chillin for over 3 months now and do great. I do 2-3 water changes every week, sometimes a little more. My nitrates are fine, coral is growing, can't complain. I been to fish stores who keep more then 5 in a 12g. I think its fine!! Just my opinion though...

Nice tank. Not a nice LFS. 5 in less than 12g? Jeesh. Either A) they sell LOTS of fish - quickly, or they have no idea what they're doing.

I bet they have tangs in 10g tanks too! :(

Beautiful tank, btw.

Thats funny, a tang in a nano! I don't go there anymore. And They do sell them so they aren't in there too long. I will not be adding anymore to my tank, my fish are happy and I don't want to disturb my peaceful tank!!

Please....don't wreck this thread. No tang tankage talk. ;)

I was referring to the LFS of gobygoddess. Only she needed to reply, really. I have no intentions on talking about tangs.

But, since I am replying - IMHO, I think they best left in the ocean. They get way to big, even for the bigger tanks I've seen in person (275g).

How about a yellow coris wrasse? How are they for temperment, reef safe and overall gallonage needed?
Can someone answer?

I think they'd be fine. I've seen a lot of tank stockings around here w/them in member's tanks. I was pondering adding one to my 29g.

Yes, that's the one, Halichoeres chrysus. I guess a better common name would be yellow or canary wrasse because it is not in the Coris genus.

The two fish in the link you provided are quite different. Do you know why? I like the one in the bottom picture much better.

juvies have the black dot :)

They are also good for eating flat worms...which I have grrr.

Sixline's should end the problem. However they tend to have nasty attitudes.

yep thanks ifisch. I was hesitant on adding a 6 line b/c they can be so territorial/mean and my tank is smaller.

do you think a yellow wrasse and a 6 line will be ok? They look different so I was thinking about maybe adding both at the same time.
