Top 10 Wrasses

Pseudojuloides pyrius is one of the most stunning wrasses I ever saw. Here is a similar species:

The picture above is P. atavai, which is slightly similar, but P. pyrius is stunning. I didn't have a camera in my hand when I saw it. It's endemic to the Marquesas and I don't think it ever made it into the aquarium trade.

Brad,

Holy cow! Where did you get those two beauties?!! (The Leopard pair, that is.)
I have a T. lunare, but he needs to be rehomed. Whaled the tar out of my Maroon clown (who isn't a lightweight, btw). The Clown survived and is making a recovery. I just don't trust the Wrasse anymore. Though the clownfish might have picked the fight for all I know. Generally the Wrasse is only aggressive when feeding. Or when a new fish has just been added.
Beautiful fish, but my tank is too small.

Awesome pics and fish BradleyJ.

Dang, pics or it didn't happen haha

I ain't laughing ;) ... one of the females was to arrive in HK yesterday and the wholesaler did not ship as he wanted to be "safe". I get weekly pics of the fish and she's looking fine, so I'm hopeful it will be the week between Christmas and NYE if not next week.

Brad, how many wrasses do you have in that 225? I'm up there with 11 (cirrhilabrus, anampses, halichoeres), but you've taken the cake.

If I hadn't seen Bradleys tank personally I would sware that he just photoshops in cool wrasse pics, lol. How does one guy get so many great pics of his wrasses, its not fair! I sit for an hour take 100 pics get one blurry one that I accept as fine. Great collection my friend.

pencils are sporadic little fishes... they are jumpy and rub their faces on the bags etc. Sometimes they make it fine, but they are poor shippers in general. They are nice fish, and very very passive.

I had to share this pic of my sunset fairy wrasse that I took tonight right after my halides went off. He was struttin his stuff, but I think he was showing respects for his mate, I found her past this morning when I went to work.

I love this fish^^ look at those ventral fins what a stud! Brad, do you know the scientific name? I think i might have asked before but its just a stunning specimen.

Jim, my wife is saying the same about my tank ... "just how many wrasses do you need?!!" I still have not told her about the pair of Lennardi on the way...whoops.:fun2:

Cirrhilabrus pylei.

there are two forms for this species.

the one pictured above by bradley is the cebuan variation from the philippines.

I think the labouti looks a lot better than a lennardi, but I do like the feminus..omg its beautiful.

Whats so wonderful about the lennardi? It was beautiful via picture unless the ones I saw was a terminal male. Feminus very rare?

Its really just preference I'd say. I like the bright blue with yellow highlights myself. Unless I hit the lotto I won't be buying either so its just a dream at this point. A friend had a pair of lennardi females and he lost them in a tank crash... sucked.
