Maybe I am just unlucky then. I have had numerous ones melt and it seems to have a strong correlation to price but that could just be me own bad luck.

Certain polyps are easy. Certain sps are easy. Certain lps are easy. I believe that first Krakatoa that was sold melted. I've had zoas over the years end up melting on me. Some I won't try any more because they just don't thrive in captivity.
If I had $2000 and had to either gamble at the casino or buy a zoa that's new to captivity, I'd gamble at the casino, FWIW.
