Torch Coral Bleaching

Help!!

Over the past week my torch has been getting more and more bleached! It's a dark purple torch. I've attached a picture.

I haven't tinkered with the lights or parameters.

I have an AI Prime and this is my set up right now.

Let me know what other info you need!

Really can't tell much from that blued-out picture. How long have you had the torch? What are your water parameter?

I've added additional pictures. My parameters are as follows:

Salt - 1.025
Temp - 78°
Mg - 1275
Alk - 10.9
Cal - 450
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0
pH - 8
Nitrate - 80ppm <- higher than normal and I've been trying to lower it as quickly and safely as possible.

How long have you had the torch?

Any recent changes in the tank (temperature spike, lighting)?

What's your phosphate? With nitrates that high, if you don't have enough available phosphate (like at a 100:1 ratio of nitrate to phosphate), your corals can suffer.

Do you feed your torch?

Kevin

I've had it since October 2019 - sorry, phosphate is 0 (i have a brs carbon reactor that works well, should I stop running it for a while?)

Light hasn't changed. Parameters have been stable other than nitrate.

I've noticed the change within the two weeks for sure.

I would definitely let Phosphates rise. I killed a torch due to low Phosphates when I was reducing nutrients to battle GHA and didn't know any better. Mine are now around 0.1 PPM and the tank loves it.

Good to know!! I've unplugged the reactor for now. I hope this helps solve this because I'd hate to watch this big coral shrink to nothing and die. [emoji30]
