Torch Coral Spawn?

Need a potential hitchhiker ID... I've got several small anemone like creatures growing on the liverock that appear to be baby torch corals. They look like miniature torches, the size of a nickel in diameter, and have fluorescing tips. The cynic in me realizes these are probably some sort of manjano or other pest anemone. Tell me what you think;

on the smaller ones you can see a 10-12 sided star shaped skeleton at the base... looks like calcium carbonate:

Yeah I had one of those, its a baby torch, mine started out in a hole, so it took a while for me to figure out what it is, but that looks the same as mine did... just let it grow.

no way... this is great. The torch was only in the tank for a month or two before it was moved to another one. There are six of these little guys scattered throughout the aquarium. How do these reproduce? Did not know they'd spawn asexually.

the same six have been there for awhile... and they're not really growing in around each other like majano or aptaisa... it's as if eggs were thrown into the water column and they landed throughout.

Yup you indeed have a baby torch as mine (from the photo you posted) is now a healthy 8 headed red with white tip torch colony. Kind of funny how the color changed so drastically from frag to colony I must say.

Hell yes... this is like the 4th thing that's spawned in my tank so far... not bad for a first time reefer with a tank less than a year old.

Thanks for letting me steal your photo Reefgeek110 =)

How long did it take to begin branching out?
