Torch questions

Couple questions regarding torches. I've googled as much as I can about placement, but all the threads that pop up seem to be regarding light and flow. Not real concerned with that aspect.

I just picked up a real pretty purple torch as a freebie and I'm just not sure where to put it. It's in the far back corner now, where it does recieve direct light, and a little flow, but it's crammed and cannot stay there long term. Problem is, my tank is incredibly crowded. I'm not real sure I have a single spot with several inches of unocupied space for it to go.

How aggressive are they? I know they pack a sting, but against everything? How would they do amongs maybe some zoas? Or frogspawn? or Lobo? ect. What about clams? Is this one of those situations like Acan Echinata, or Hydnophora, where anything and everything it touches, will die entirely immediately? Just wondering if I should accept I don't have room and sell it, or if I can at least try it out?

Also. What indicated something is an Aussie torch, vs not an Aussie torch? Is mine an aussie torch? I see the term thrown around alot. here's a pic of the torch in question. I love it and would prefer to keep it, just not sure if I love it more than everything else on the sandbed.

They are very aggressive. You need to make sure they are away from everything and with med flow. I ran into the same issue with mine, but I was able to move some corals around and give it a nice spot.

well.... some people have had luck with putting them close to Hammers and Frogspawns, but it is hit and miss and in most cases it is miss. I would not risk it, but you are welcomed to try it. Just be aware that it may cost you the other corals.

As far as the aussie question. From what i believe the aussie ones have fat tentacles and the indo ones have very thin tentacles. Thats just what ive read, is it a solid way to tell? I couldnt tell you. If it is how you tell then id say yours is aussie. But thats if the fat to skinny tentacle rule is true or not.

I've got mine like so, and doing well. This one has doubled in size over the last 6 or seven months. There are zoos right up to its base.

I've got hammers and frogspawn touching each other with out issue, but yes they are pretty aggressive. I would not put them next to a torch so the saying that All Euphyllia's can touch isn't totally true. It might work for a little while but in the end the Torch will torture any other Euphyllia if it so chooses.

I have a very similar Ausi Torch, and it grew at least double the size in 2 months of owning it. Start looking for a place for it now, as it will grow if happy.

Also, I noticed that if not in good light, it would deflate, so I had to move it up in the tank.

I didn't realize these will sting, perhaps that's why it's very close neighbor kandycane coral is not doing well... oops!!
