Torn between two loves (skimmers)

After several redesign changes for my proposed sump, I've narrowed down my search for a skimmer to the following:

Deltec AP600
or
Euro-Reef RS135

The skimmer will be servicing a 125 gallon SPS reef ... lightly to moderately stocked.

Which is the better value? The Deltec is considerably more expensive than the Euro-Reef. Does its performance warrant that difference?

Price isn't everything, but it's part of the equation. Your opinions are appreciated.

IMO, The ER is not only better it's less expensive. Just my opinion, and you know what they say about those. happy reefkeeping...

If you get the ER call ER and try to order and be sure you get it with the Eheim pumps. Some of the units at other places may not have the new pumps on them. Hope this helps. happy reefkeeeping..

RS skimmers dont have Eheims, only the 180 and up RC's have them. If you can fit it, I'd go up a notch to the RS180.

My vote goes to the Deltec, because you don't need a ferocious dog to stand guard.

How so? Please elaborate.

I dont even know what that means.

My vote is the ER.

alright i have used and have a cs6-1 cs6-2 and a cs8-1 and a cs5-2 (the best was the cs5-2)

i have a ap600

the winner of all of them is the deltec

i put the deltec on a 40 gal tank to cure live rock skimmate is grey

also all the skimmers have been tested on a 58 gallon

Have you considered a H&S Skimmer?

Have you considered a H&S Skimmer?

A150! :D basically the same performance skimmer as APF600.

I just got the ER100 last night. Looks very nice in person. I will set it up this weekend and at least I can tell you what I think of the 100 version.

FWIW, I decided to go with an ER becuase they are cheaper and I really like the non recirculating models. I find them a lot easier to access the pump for quick routine cleanings and such. Although I have not had a deltec only another recirc skimmer.

The ER RS180 would be overkill, but would fit height wise. This is a pretty big skimmer with a 8" body, and 1080 LPH air draw. This is over double the LPH of the AP600 which is 480 LPH. ER has made improvements in their skimmers, notably in pump performance compared to the older models. The RS135 has a very respectable 720 LPH and has a 6" body.
