Totally unrelated for Gamers!

Ok for all of you Gamers out there I wanted to share something with you that is an important issue.

There is a copy protection called "STARFORCE" that is being used by several game designers that can potentially DAMAGE your computer. Specifically the DVD Burners and CD Burners. Essentially it loads a device driver right into your files. Over a short period of time you will start to notice your burner getting slower and slower. My DVD burner went from 10-12 minutes per disk up to 55 minutes.

Once a burner starts burning THAT slow it can actually damage it. Some have even had cd's explode in their drives.

The company does put a very small disclaimer on the box that states the copy protection can cause "conflicts" with cdrw and dvdrw drives.

Here is a link to the site for a list of games that have it. You can remove the copy protection on your own and the game will still work.

Boycot Starforce

sorry for the NON fish post but I know a lot of you are Gamers like me. Thought you should know.

How nice of them. Thanks for the heads-up. There are perfectly reasonable situations for an at-home dupe, like a child's copy, like a road copy, when you don't want to risk your original.

Sounds like something Sony would pull

Isn't that the truth.

I can't help but think this is a lawsuit waiting to happen, warning or not. This is worse than a virus. At least they just target the data.
