So I went up to Binghamton yesterday to look at a few houses. Man, was it a nice trip up there. The trees were turning green in the mountains, couldn't beat the views I had.

I actually found a couple of places I liked, one's sort of a horse ranch, big and beautiful, with great views out the back. It even had a three-car garage with cathedral ceilings (the current owners' kids play baskeball in it).

Another place I looked at I really liked, but it's an older house and needs a little work (not much, mind you). The property though! Towering pines and other trees, a stream running through the property, and turkeys feeding in the back yard. Owner told me he even had a bear or two come though, one right up to his back porch door.

Gonna start making offers tomorrow and see what happens.

Btw, Doug, that property is in South Vestal. The horse ranch is in Whitney Point.

Anyway, be talking at ya'll.

I think I saw some of those houses (online at least) when we were looking a bit ago. South Vestal - thats the area around vestal center or Vestal Corners or whetever they call it? And whitney point I think is a few minutes north right?

I'm actually starting my new job up there next Monday. I'll be back and forth on a weekend basis for the first month or two- still need to sell the house down here and dont want to pull the kids out of school before the year is over.

We're already developing an intra state coral trade -

Myonly issue is I'm going up there next week and still have no idea where I'm living in the interim...hmmm

Hey, good luck Jan--it's going to be such a beautiful change up there for you, and hey, if you get another transplant or two you'll have a LIRA Northern division (or frag?!?).

As for me I found an apartment and it looks like I'll be on LI for the forseeable future...

Thanks for the comments (you and Doug). Yeah, it's gorgeous up there. Couldn't believe that no matter how hard I tried when visiting the properties I was interested in, I couldn't hear anything but bugs. No table saws, no neighbors yelling, no Northern Blvd likeness on Deer Park Road, nothing. It was great!

Doug, Whitney Point is about 20 miles north of Binghamton on the way to Syracuse, just off the main highway. As for the Vestal location, all I know is it was on the outside of town as you headed south. On a beautiful street, of course. Old guy and his wife are retiring and want to head to warmer weather.
