TOTM quality 6' SPS tank for under $1k? The 5.56 build thread; AKA a really bad idea

pH has seemed to stabilized starting about the time I added the Copepods and dosing phytoplankton. Actually quite a bit. I’m adjusting my kalkwasser script to higher pH because the ATO hasn’t been reaching the float by morning. This is very good.

Also I am seeing bits of coralline alage starting all over including the glass. I know that in a few months I am going to H8 that stuff but presently it’s a very good sign of stability.

I have a calcium reactor hooked up but it's off most the time because I've had trouble keeping the ph up. Also my calcium and alkalinity demands are being met by kalkwasser top off for the time being.

I will try and get one out this weekend. I've got 12 dozen tamales to make for Christmas though so I'm pretty busy. So I have a grip of stuff to sell still and Frags have grown into many call nice I wonder if I sell stuff I can get back into the black on this whole thousand-dollar venture

Just go to Costco and be done quick...

My tamales are better than costco, probably the best tamales I’ve ever had. I’ve been makeing them about 17 years and everyone has grown accustomed to getting them on Christmas.

I am very selective on what makes it into the filling. Only the most delicious parts of the meat make it any, anything chewy or tough gets discarded. And them a crappy FTS as long as I'm uploading photos. I'll try and take a better one once the halides are on

FTS looks good. That colony on the right is really going for it, that's the RAP colony right? The piece you gave me is a purple coralite with green body so far.

Yes and here is the "œfrag" you gave me from RAP, it's probably one of the more amazing pieces in my tank, sitting next to a pink lemonaid all upset because I just did a water change

I've been battling Dino's and this WC is the first break from my first last approach which was to just let the Dino's go nuts on the glass. The overall effect was more dino biomass but they seemed to leave my corals alone. That changed this morning when I notice that they assaulted my son's favia from RAP. Charles was kind enought to loan me his UV but it's only 25 watts which I believe may be insufficient. Maintaining high pH hasn't helped. I did make a modified sock that captures a ton of them. A 5' sock wrapped in paper towels an put inside a 7" sock. The paper tow gets very thick with brown Dino's rather quickly.

Looks good! I gotta say, doing a water change is the #1 no-no with Dinos. It will make them absolutely explode in abundance.

There's something in salt they love, we don't know what but we have theories..

Among the many thing we talked about with dinos, one tactic which works for some -- Changing salt brands. Doesn't matter what you currently use, but if you're getting a dino and a WC strengthens them, they like *something* in the salt. A salt change can hinder some dinos.
