TOTM quality 6' SPS tank for under $1k? The 5.56 build thread; AKA a really bad idea

The tank is setteling down, alk, calcium and mg are really stabilizing and the corals show it. Alk was getting high a month ago so I shut off the CARX for a week then raised the pH inside to 6.75 and that seems to meet my consumption now.

Vlamingi is happy. I felt guilty for putting him in such a small tank so I feed him a lot. LOL

He is such a cool fish and comes to the glass when he sees me like a puppy dog.

Here's the thing. I switched out my radiums for a set of M58 10k aqualine lamps for probably 6 months when they wear out. Lots of 1" frags I want to grow out. They are par monsters but rather white. Many of my corals look beter with them, there's a myriad of colors you see under the 10K's that you don't see under bluer setups but also several of the blue and purple corals look brown.

Honestly, having a real fondness of snorkeling, the 10K's look very natural. It's what you see when you are swimming a tropical reef. I really enjoy those lamps but they arn't all pop and black light rave looking

That's always how I felt with my 250w 10k XMs on my old 120g tank. It didn't look "reefcentral quality blue", but the colors it brought out were spectacular in their own right. I remember a superman montipora had the purple glowing under the 10ks, something I still have never seen from blue setups.

Maybe I'll play with some whiter settings now that I'll have variable programming lamps for the first time, and see if those kinds of colors can be teased out from LEDs (I doubt it).

Talk about growth and it looking like snorkeling... 10K XMs definitely met those conditions and brought some really unique coloration.

Take a pic with the new lamps, I'm curious what the tank looks like!
