Btw Hurley, I remember those creatures!(avatar) They scared the poo out of me when I was a lil' un! :D

yep yep yep yep yep.....mao.....mao.....mao.....mao.....mao

I just want to point out that I never said anything bad about TP. I am talking about Blue Imperator. Even with that I don't have anything against them. I am just worried that they will get themselves into trouble trying to play both sides of the field. If they can do it and not have any problems then the more power to them. I like Sion, Randy, etc.. (and Eddie although he is not the same company).

Soli, I'm not sure where you think this is excalating. Nobody on here is really having a heated argument but you. Gresham and I are mainly pointing out facts of the business. We both know Sion and have known him for years. He is a great guy to deal with. I think that a lot of people are going to have a hard time realizing that this is not TP. This is a wholesaler that is using the TP building. Eddie is sort of tied into it but it is owned and run by totally different people with totally different ideas about the hobby. Don't expect to see the same types of corals there that you saw at the old TP. These guys will have the same exact corals you see at most of the local stores. Where do you think the stores get their corals from? Basically this will probably turn into another 6th ave for the hobbiest. It's not really bad but it is not TP.

So, from those who made it out to the opening of TP, how was it ? Any pictures of kewl coral acquisitions that you got from the visit ? Any feedback or general impressions on the "new" TP ? We couldn't make it but would love to hear from those that did. Thanks :)

Cough Cough. I wonder who will be getting all the "cherry" pieces. I know of a couple local stores already trans-shipping their own stuff. Hope it works out for the TP gang, but base on past experience with other business trying to do wholesale and resale, they have alot of work ahead.

Anyone know if the grand opening is Thursday or Friday?
Thanks,
Ben

ben,
i was in the area yesterday so i decided to drop by to check it out. lots of nice corals that you may like. definitely worth the trip.
last i heard the opening would be sat but u can drop by now as they are open.

pretty disappointing this thread has gone into haterville when this post was merely to provide u info on a new lfs and ultimately benefit most of u. i dont know where all the hate comes from when many of u used to praise and freqent the owners previous store. a new store of this caliber can only benefit the lfs scene in the bay area.

again already stated the exotic reefs lfs and this wholesaler next door do not have the same owners and are separate businesses. keep that in mind before u post your thoughts, speculations and hearsay.

back to the topic everyone.

hey alex,
thanks for the info.
i was heading that way on thanksgiving and was hoping i could drop by there on my way to berkeley. i remember eddie being open on the holidays in the past. maybe i'll stop in and see what he has cookin.
i don't know any of the ins/outs and goings on but i'd love to see what's in the candy store. hasn't been the same since james closed up.
see ya,
ben

I was there on Sunday to check it out. Eddie was napping when I got there as he has not sleep much for the opening preparation. However, he woke up and we chat a bit. As Alex said, there are a lot of nice corals there. They have some Tonga, Fiji, Indonesia and also Vanuatu in that time. A shipment from Salomon is also on the way. What caught my eyes are nice non Indo acan lord and micro (for people who is into acan lord), Bali AC that looks like Tyree LE Ultimate Staghorn and many other nice stuff. Hhhhmmm, not to mention I saw Tyree LE pink polyp cap and Aquascene true enchinata frag there. There are 2 rare anemone also which I forgot the name as my SPS tank won't like them. No fish yet, but the fish will be available on the grand opening.
Eddie mentioned that the Grand Opening is actually this coming Thurs, the Thanksgiving Day ...

Now you're talking Roy. Those acans look like anything you've seen around the globe?
I'll have to drop by there before I get to Berkeley.
Ben

Ben,
I am actually not an acan person, so I am not sure how it is compared with other lord out there. Well, if you check Jendub, there might be more nice lord out there, but for me it is the nicest I have ever seen with my own eye. I end up with a frag of it. It was bright red with nice kind of baby blue center. There are Indo acan lord also ... but you can tell the different. It was actually collected from Tonga ... from Eddie's own collection station.

Phong,
I think they are closed from Monday until tomorrow in prep for the grand opening on Thurs. Obviously Eddie will be there preparing, but I do not know the exact answer of your question. Why don't you wait till Thurs and get the grand opening day special price thing.

from exotic's page, it looks like the grand opening is this fri through the weekend.

taken from their page.

I think its best if we, as consumers, leave the business dealings to the business men and appreciate this for what it is and will be :)

This is a general comment that has very little to do with the content of this thread. :D
I think if we don't pay attention to the business dealings in the hobby in general we could easily find ourselves without a hobby in the future.

Happy turkey day!

They moved way over a year ago. Plus the LA business is very different from the Bay Area business. The stores here have more controll over the wholesalers than in LA. Some of those LA ones will sell to anyone.

likewise with bay area wholesalers

I was just there. They have quite a few pieces, mostly SPS. Some from Tonga, Vanuatu, and Fiji. I saw several pieces I would have bought in the past but just don't have the room in the smaller 50 gallon. The guy working there said they would be getting another shipment in this weekend. Didn't get a chance to talk to Eddie, he was sleeping on the other side.
