Dear Forum Folk,
I just unwrapped and de-boxed my new jbj 24 gallon nano cube dx 2006 model (w/ enclosed fans, LED moon lights) to replace a 12gal OG I've had set up for about a year (the ballast rusted out, I've had some ghetto-rigged DIY lights running since Aug.). What should be transferred from the old system ? I still have about 10 lbs of black sand dry and un-used in the gravel bag. The old cube has about 12 - 14 lbs of LR, a floor maybe 1.5" deep of black substrate, 1 damsel (used to have a mandarin, but due to beginner error ending up killing him =(, 4 hermits, a crap load of tiny aiptasia, 3 snails.
I also purchased a surface skimmer (aka the cassette tape case) and a fission nano skimmer (i know ! i know ! these *i've read RECENTLY*skimmers are crap, so do your homework).
What do you recommend transferring over ? The old activated carbon, sponges, cermaics ? What do you guys have in your 3 stage biological filter ? TIA !
