transporting frag home from the swap safely

does anyone actually use the three month QT for frags? i see a lot of folks swear by QT.

Like Bill said it's a great idea. I used to when I had a separate frag tank. Now I just don't add any more Acro frags:) It's not very practical for most. If I was still obtaining a lot of corals I would set one up again.

just make sure the "dip" is thoroughly rinsed off the coral before they are bagged. some dips are strong and can linger . causing irritation the whole time it is in the bag. i think some of these dips are designed with putting the coral in a tank afterward in mind. may be wrong but just a thought. i know i used coralrx on everything before a swap just to be sure and i wasnt able to rinse them thoroughly enough and they were irritated big time. they never really opened up well.

We are talking about after you take them home;)

If your dipping before you bring them then I probably don't want to buy them

...although I'm sure you were just trying to be nice.

i read all the posts. i was just responding to the following : and no i will not be dipping before the swap

Yes Indeed I will Actually Dip everything I Bring to the swap Before Bagging any Coral that i have/will sell at the Swap and suggest everyone do the same. This will do no harm to the corals and keep any pests from being transfeered from one system to another. I also think Unmounted Frags are easier to inspect for any trace of Eggs from Flatworms Too. JMHO

I will dip any coral i sell, But it will be dipped and rinsed in seperate water then bagged in tank water. The way i look at it better safe than sorry, As i have bought frags from others that don't dip their frags and never was told by them they were taking these risks. It does a coral no harm to dip and rinse any frag before selling it. If any one has a problem with this just let me know and if you don't want it dipped or don't want it period that is your perogative. I want people to be return customers of my frags and most are and most are my friends and want them to stay that way.

Didn't catch that...just never thought of dipping anything I was taking and not getting:)
