wow this thread is huge. can anyone tell me the benefit of dosing vit C.
do you dose it cause your palys are sick?
or does it make them grow faster?

is it for zoanthids and palys or just one of them.

how do you dose it?

btw i know that those questions have prob been asked before but i think it be easier if someone tell me instead of me reading throughout this whole thread.

You could start with the very 1st page (before all the splitting), to find out the origional reason for my dosing:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1252294&perpage=25&pagenumber=1

You can find dosing amounts on the 1st page of this thread. I have found that not only did my zoas stop melting, they are larger, more colorful & multiply faster. As a surprise bonus, everything else (leathers, LPS, SPS) looks more colorful & healthy!

thank you, btw sorry if you felt that i was (spitting) but ya vit c sounds good if it does all that you just mentioned. thank you. i will read from the first page.
btw any cons to this?

Spitting? If the dosage is raised too fast, some folks have noticed some precipitation/cloudiness to their water. I have never had this issue. Many other things have been blamed on their dosing of VC but It may have only been coincidence, as thos things may have happened in their tanks anyway. I keep a very mixed reef of sorties, zoas/palys, clams, anemones, LPS & SPS & have never experienced any negative issues. I have been dosing ~23ppm, 2x/day, for well over a year now.

oops i read wrong i thought you said that i was (spitting my words out like ruding asking questions.) haha now i read it, its splitting.
sorry haha

so i read through couple pages, i have not read the article but it seems that ppl start with (a certain vc) at 250 2times a day and raise it up whenever lets say every 5 days to 500 then 1000 then to 1500.

is this dosing period of raising it still correct as stated in the beginning of the thread?

im currious what is the recommended brand of vc that is used by majority of the ppl that dose vc

i dont have a sump so how would i dose it into my 48 gallon bow front?
what is the max dose i should do?

Do you have a skimmer? On my smaller tanks, I remove the cup & place it under my skimmer cup for best disbursement. Did you see the type of VC we are using & the discount code?

oh thats a good idea about putting it in the skimmer.

ya i think i saw the vc and the discount code.
okay so ill try to order that.

anything else i should know?

btw pm sent puffer punk

hi pufferpunk i was trying to look for the Purigen on dr foster. i only found the powder form, i wasnt able to to find the bag form. is there a possibility when you have time can you link me to the site you get it from.
thank you again.

100 ml. w/ mesh bag is the one you want. I thought they also came in 3-pack.

If you go to www.ebates.com & sign up there, using my email as a referal, you will get a 6% rebate off everyting you ever buy thru them (you have to follow the DFS link from there) & $5 back from your 1st order: luluwonderdog at yahoo dot com.

cool thanks you.
i was also wondering what happens after you stop out of no where dosing the vit c?
is it okay to dose iodine while dosing vit c?

Since I dose to keep my zoas from melting, when I was in the hospital getting surgury & stopped dosing for 2 weeks, they started looking poorly again. I believe Jeff stopped for a few months & wasn't happpy with the growth/expansion of his corals, even though he was just using a light maintence dose (5ppm).

Iodine is very dangerous & easy to overdose. Be careful with that stuff.

thanks for the warning. i heard it was dangerious but then again i heard its steroids for soft corals.
i met another hobbiest today and he actually mixed up his own iodine from his chemical lab which he says is stronger then the kent iodine. i was like watch out and done over dose it. he actually said its hard to over dose. i told him what i know about iodine but he decided to just pour what he had into his tank without measuring it. and it was a lot. i was like WOW.. instant kill but he says hes been doing that for a while and his softies grow crazy.
i was suppose to get the toadstool from him. but it didnt completely split yet =( on the good note its a yellow one which looks pretty cool.
cant wait another month then i will get it.

have you ever read the thread on dosing vodka?
has anyone dosed vodka to decrease nitrate and phosphate with the use of dosing vit c?
results?

Our home is alcohol free. It does act as a carbon source (lowering nitrate) but will not do anything to save my melting zoas. The VC will take care of your softies, not to worry about iodine. That guy's nuts! You don't have to wait for a leather to split. Just chop it off.
