Treating with Vitamin C

I just found out I don't really have to dose for Alk.. I just checked and my KH was at 12. I usually run around 10.

I keep mine ~8-9. Used to dose 50mg/night, now I dose between 25-50mg. Found it to have dropped ~6 last month, so Im adding more now. Not much different than before VC, except I have more corals taking it up now.

Sorry Puff I lost the plot in your response to 650 as I can't tell if you are talking Alk or VC dosing in your numbers. Have you seen the need to decrease or increase you Alk dosing, or no change at all? Do use a 2-part?

Similar to 650, my Alk seems to have increased. I was a solid 8 before however when I tested this month (yes I'm getting lazy already with testing) I was up at 10. Wouldn't have thought that to be VC related but I'm still learning here.

I'm dosing a heaping 1/8tsp x 2 for my 39g.

I am dosing a slightly less amount of DIY alk to the tank.

No you cannot use VC pills, they have fillers & other crap you don't want in your tank. Use the product linked in almost every page of this thread.

Read this thread(s) for a bit over an hour and decided to try Vit C dosing on my 90.

Just curious, how much referral bonus have you gotten puffer? (what rank are you on iherb?)

;)

Power to ya, seems like you would be much better off than that after this thread though :x
Looking forward to seeing if this helps with random zoa melting

My intentions were not to be better off finantially with all the work I have done on this. Someone else found that link for us, since it seems to be the cheapst one to go with. The fact I get a bottle or 2 from all this, is nothing to me. Do you have any idea how much time I have consumed helping everyone out with this info? The most I can hope to gain (other than fantastic corals) is maybe something for an artiucle I may have published in a mag.

Just tagging along, I've read every single post the last few days. I may have to try this, no real issues in my tank but would like to see what enhancements there might be with VC.

I noticed my water is getting cloudy, everything looks fine, though.

Has anyone experienced this with vitamin c dosing? I am only doing 1/2 tsp in my 90g 2x a day.

Could this be because my topoff container is getting low? I dose limewater so I am thinking some of the particles that do not dissolve got in the tank. Does this make sense?

Thank for any info.

I ran out out alk test but calcium is at 450. Still waiting on other test kits to arrive.

The PE and color on my corals are great, fish acting normal, etc. It is just that my water is not clear. When I look from one side of the tank to the other it just appears a bit cloudy.

Looking at corals that are close to the front you can no notice but when looking all the back to the back of the tank it is apparent.

Any ideas? Could my litermeter ATO have sucked up some limewater precipitate that was encrusted on top of the top off container (or from the bottom) ?

Well I talked to some other people who think it may be an algae bloom from the vitamin c dosing.

I did a big feeding last night using my homemade food, I fed most of my polyps with the flow and skimmer off for 2 hours. I turned the skimmer back on (and the flow), dosed 5ppm vit c, then went to bed.

I just did a ~21 gallon water change and things look slightly less cloudy.

Overall things look happy, in fact, a few corals look better than they ever have.

Im pumping some more water and will probably do another water change later on if I have time.
