Treating with Vitamin C

Alright, I'm in too. Just used the coupon to order my iHerb vitamin C. Now if I could only take decent pics I could get a before/after.

Bet it cost a pretty penny, especially compared with VC. Also, it looks like those colors are a bit oversaturated--look at the "white' sand.

After reading this thread and having some of the buffered VitC pharmaceutical grade powder in the kitchen cabinet I decided to give it a go. With attention to keeping my alk up I am on my 4th dose and though it may be just a coincidence I can already see many of my zoanthids opening fuller.
I am dosing in the morning and after I get home from work.
next report in a week.
 
I've been trying to make my way through this thread and am interested in dosing Vitamin C in my 120g (160g total) system. Does anyone have any links to some articles on this subject?
 
If you can make it thru this thread, there is a whole section where scientists get on here & link to a bunch of stuff. Also do a search for more info in the Reef Chemistry forum. Here's the 1st one I found, after dosing for about 3 months:

That's when I stopped using the pills & went for the buffered VC. My pH had also dropped to 7.8 by then.
 
Ok I posted a month or so ago that I was going to start. ordered 3 bottles from I herb but then I chickened out. I have read the entire thread including with allllllllll the splits. I know there was mention that the vitamin C would actually help with some algae but I have been struggling with bryopsis in my sps tank that I just cant seem to get rid of. I worry that the vitamin C could make it worse so I just havent been able to bring myself to do it. Considering that do you agree I should not treat with it?
 
Thanks pufferpunk, that was really informative. I think I'll be a good condidate for trying the Vitamin C method as I've already been monitoring my pH and dKH daily so I'll have a good idea of how it's affecting my paramters.

I'll have to place an order with iherb soon so I can get started!

If you still have that nitrate problem, I would (and have). I dose a half tsp of VC and a half tst of sugar twice a day to my 225.
 
tangafish, I had a huge wad of cheato in my fuge that has totally disappeared, due to the fact there just isn't enough nutrients for it to live opn.
 
good to hear. I have been wanting to give it a shot. I will try to get some good pics before I dose this weekend.
 
I skimmed through the thread and didn't notice any before and after shots. Should I go back and can through again?
 
No before and after pics but I have been using it for almost a week 2 times a day and I notice, besides some problem zoas that are now opening, that turf algae, which has been invading my LR and keeping my zoas from spreading, has been turning white and flaking off.
