Treating with Vitamin C

I get lighter coloured skimmate after dosing VC....but more of it. I guess it depends on your skimmer. I have a AquaC Remora.

The skimmate has been darker and thicker, but there has been much less of it, even though I've moved the water level up in the skimmer.

My frag of 3 purple hornets has opened up, so has the spiderman that's been sitting next to it, just waiting on the blue hornet now.

I had the same experience with the skimmate.

I have been dosing for about a month now got up to 30ppm and dropped back down in the last week to 15ppm when I noticed that every time I dose some of my SPS retracted their polyps and give off a white stringy substance for about 20 minutes then back to normal they go. Even at 5ppm I still get the same reaction. Since the start of my dosing some of my zoos have opened back up and some are still closed. What's causing the reaction with the SPS? Should I just stop the dosing for a while?

I have been at 5ppm since the start of the week and still getting the same reaction out of my SPS. They return to normal after about an hour but it's the initial reaction that I'm not liking. The skimmer is operating just fine, still pulling out the nasty gunk.

I add an even teaspoon to a mug of RO water, stir it, and then throw it in front of one of my powerheads. Try that and see if it makes a difference?

I've been adding it on the other end of my sump lately where my skimmer output is. The negative reaction from my SPS have not been as bad so maybe after a few days I'll bump up the ppm.

I always dose my alk/ca/VC at night & then if I remember again in the morning, I'll dose VC again in my DT.

Just reread a few pages and was curious why you do your 2 part at night. I read that it was better to do it with lights on bc of stability issues. I usually dose my 2 part and vc in the am and mag, iodine, and vc in the late afternoon. I'll start mixing the vc in the sump.

Yepper, I always deal with the tank for 5 minutes in the morning, feed my Labs, get my daughter her milk and vitamin and get myself out the door for work.

Alright, all hornets are now open! Purple hornet has 2 babies, Blue hornet has 1 baby, Spiderman has 6 babies!

Water has been crystal clear since about 2 days into dosing, but I am getting 2 patches of cyano appx. 2"x4" on each side of the tank on the bottom. No biggie, nothing down there anyways.

SPS: Montipora Undata has had better polyp extension and better polyp color. Mind Trick Monti has produced measurable growth since the start of dosing (it's grown more since I started dosing than it has since I got it 2 months ago...). Pokerstar monti now has shades of pink, which looks bad a$$ IMHO. Setosa has turned from orange to pinkish, which my girlfriend approves of.

All in all, great results that AFAIK can be attributed to the VC dosing.

My Alien Eye chalice has developed pink in it too, which is really cool. I also have a bit of cyano but I attest that to older bulbs.
