trick to open turbelle stream pump?

Hello all-
Anybody have some tips on how to open up the stream pumps? I have the 6125, and am trying to do proactive maintenance, i.e. service and clean the pump.

It is not popping off easily- as shown in the manual diagram. I have even tried gently popping up the little tab in the back with a screw driver but it is not budging.

I am not exactly mechanically inclined, as you may have guessed. Suggestions?

In general you should be able to squeeze and pull and it will come off. When they are wet and your hands are wet and they have some algae, this isn't so easy. What I do in this case is crack it like an egg, just tap it on a table edge gently and it should open right up.
