SEASL Trip to Inland Aquatics
April 21, 2012
Our April 2012 SEASL meeting will be a trip to Inland Aquatics in Terre Haute, IN. It has been a few years since we organized this highly successful trip, and it is LONG overdue.

For those of you who have not been to Inland Aquatics, here is a link to their web site. http://www.inlandaquatics.com.
Inland Aquatics is a locally owned and operated mariculture facility located in Terre Haute, Indiana. They have over 35,000 gallons of saltwater dedicated to the propagation, rearing, and holding of ornamental marine fish, hard and soft corals, live rock, live sand, and a variety of marine plants and invertebrates. It is located in a 13,000 square foot facility and is divided into a retail/wholesale store, sterile breeding/food stock laboratory, classroom, a workshop used to create new and adapt existing mariculture/aquarium hardware, and the field station used for breeding, propagation, and holding of wildlife.
Here's what is new:
o LED SPS/Coral Display
o 400 Gallon Reef Cube
o Redone Rock Tanks
o HUGE Freshwater displays and retail systems
o 300 Gallon Vivarium Display with Dendrobates (Poison Dart Frogs)
o Garden Eel Display
o Invert Cubicles
o Shark and Ray Rock Tank
It may sound far away, but it is an easy drive along interstate 70 to the Indiana border. It will take about 2 ½ hours from our planned meeting spot in Troy, IL. Troy, IL is just 10 minutes over the bridge.
Here's the plan:
Meeting Location
We will leave from the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Troy, IL. (2001 Formosa Rd, Troy, IL 62294-1384) Since it is right along I-70, it should be easy to find and on the way for everyone. Also, we can leave cars there (for car poolers), and people could get coffee/breakfast before we leave.
Schedule
We will leave Cracker Barrel at 9 AM so that we arrive about noon after stopping for a quick lunch. There is plenty to explore at this facility. Based on previous visits to Inland, it could be easy for us to spend 3 hours there (maybe less). That means we'd leave about 3:00 PM and get back to Cracker Barrel about 5:30 PM.
Car Pooling
With regards to car pooling:
Prearrange your own car pool, or
Arrive at Cracker Barrel prepared to drive or ride.
Also, it would be thoughtful if the riders covered most of their driver's gas cost.
If you are planning to go, please email GoingtoInland@charter.net. In your email, please include your cell phone number. We need this information for several reasons. We may use it to talk between the cars during our trip, and Inland needs a head count so they know how to staff for our visit. We'll keep your cell number confidential.
Let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you April 21, 2012, 9AM at the Cracker Barrel in Troy, IL.
