I will second levon15 with the idea of Rosemont. Rosemont is located next to O'Hare airport, lots of hotels. Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg is also a good choice little bit further in suburbia. Both have good resturants within short driving distance. If you want some good chicago style pizza (stuffed), Schaumburg has a Lou Malinotti's and many others. Both are close to 90/94 which would take you right into the heart of the city where you could pick up LSD (Lake Shore Drive) heading towards the Shedd. If you do drive the highways around chicago remember the farthest left lane avg speed is 80 mph or greater. If I think of any thing else I'll post.
