Triton Test Kit

I has a question Mr. Tweaked!!!

When is a good time to run this test? Probably needs further clarification but I feel someone with a 3 month old tank is not established yet and may get some screwy results. Have your read anywhere what tank age is a good place to start?

Darn good question Mike. This is still all so new for the common folk, and there is still much to learn. However, there are some results forming on various salt brands specifically, and that for me was my goal. Being a large weekly water change guy, and using the same salt since day one years ago, I think this will help my sanity lol. Many things to consider however, and different animals use the elements differently so all tanks will be different further complicating the idea. Sanjay showed great results from his test using IO while others saw similar testing results.

According to their site, they reccomend using Tropic Marine Pro. Very interesting considering they can test them all. But do they have a motive to push you to a salt low in things resulting in your need to buy trace direct from them? Or, are they really for the aquarist and recommending the best salt brand.

Results are in (quickly might I add), and I think I will stick with my salt. These results seem better than others I've seen. Hmmmm

I see you mr Holmes-Farley. Any thoughts on results and lithium? I know my Ca test kit is no good. Been getting results around 420.

I'm all for the testing. I think it all gets mucked up with the no water change and coral vitality assertions and the sale of various proprietry additives, though. I'll probably use the testing service at least once.

Your results are inteersting. Didn't mean to intrude on a local forum but came here via your post on another thread.

Yes, why I invited you over, input is good and is all new to allot of us. It was my intention as well to not get too wrapped up in it, but give me some insight into things I do not test for and the overall quality of the salt I'm using. End of the day, still not the answer to anything, just more info for those seeking it.

FWIW, I've used only corallife salt. 1% daily water change. Tried various trace elements without discernible benefit .Uptick in algae with iron and iodide. I dose only limewater for calcium and alk. Potassium per Salifert test holds up at around 400ppm without supplementing. I feed heavily and dose vodka and vinegar and run some rox 8 gac. I'm happy with coral vibrancy ,color and growth for a wide variety including many sps. Hobby grade testing is limited in terms of accuracy and reliability for some elements ; so, a more detailed testing profile is interesting to me; just because I like to know the numbers out of curiosity and maybe gaining an insight or two.

From what I am gathering, the lithium is coming from the ESV calcium dosing and no cause for concern. Some have shown results 5x that of mine.
