Troy's 270 Gallon plus Fishroom

I did....150lbs. I let it cure for almost 2 months in brute cans and treated with phosfree. It really wasnt that much work...the stench from the rock was harder to deal with than anything else. I would use the water that I would drain from my 80g on the brute cans weekly. So my tank was getting a 15% wc and the brute cans were getting about a 20% wc every week. I've no major phosphate issues so far.

The toys begin to arrive!! The 6 Radion XR30's arrived today! I hooked one up and boy do they ever create a LOT of light!

My 3rd MP40 arrived as well as the 1st couple pieces of the Neptune Apex controller. The main unit and display will be here in a couple days.

My BRS Reef Saver rocks arrive tomorrow! Not looking forward to picking them up at UPS though!!

IN addition I picked up two new 55 gallon drums and build the frame for where they will site. My equipment room cabinets are built such that the lower shelf is embedded into the frame to 'catch' any small amounts of water that might get spilled. I plan on hooking up water detectors to the Apex controller to sound an alarm and notify me of any spill as well as to shut off any offending pumps. I'll pick up the plywood tomorrow and will paint with an exterior water-resistant paint. I'll then put tops of the workbenches as well. There is also a spot for a sink and an under-counter refrigerator/freezer.

Also.. I ordered the majority of the plumbing pipe, fittings, and valves from BRS today as well; should arrive early next week.

Here are some pics!

Smooth tank move.
where did you get the glass suction cup?

I had my tank built by Eric Davis (Aquarium Creations) here locally. Eric has a couple sets of the suction cups you see in the move. He does 'rent' them out for moves for $10 I believe... but he donates all proceeds to our local club!

Well, it seems I hit my 1st roadblock. The Reef Saver rock (200ibs) and 50 its of shelf rock arrived from BRS today. I had requested two large rocks (~18x24) and two medium rocks to build to large islands from. Unfortunately I received 18 small rocks. The rock looks awesome but is way to small for what I want to do. The shelf rock looks great although one very large shelf broke, but I can make that work ok.

What are everyone experience with Bulk Reef Supply? I've sent them pictures and asked them to rectify the situation.

troy, My experience with them was great when I ordered the rock. I made the request for larger pieces and thats what I got. I did call after the order was placed to make sure that my special request did carry thru on the order. I'm sure they will make it right.

I'm hoping!

Small update. I finished most of the plumbing for he equipment room sink and drains. Also put up some shelving and the equip room stands are ready to paint.

Didn't get much done today as our local club had a Reef Tour all day... where you drive around and see lots of incredible tanks!! We spent the day visiting our fellow club members, seeing their awesome tanks, and getting many great ideas!!

BUT there was one major step forward today! While driving around we stopped and picked up our customer 48"x24"x18" Sump, 36"x18"x12" Frag Tank, and Skimmer from Elite Aquatics! I must say I couldn't be happier with them!! I especially like the fact that Tyler at Elite Aquatics took my request for having transparent Blue Eurobracing on the sump and turned it into a work of art!

Ok, a quick update. The last for a week as I'm off on a business trip come Tues to Friday unfortunately.

We got most of the equipment racks/workbenches completed in the equipment room this weekend and I did all the pre-plumbing work for drains and the sink in the room. Unfortunately the walls in this room are very far from square so I have so work to get the cabinet tops to line up perfectly before I screw them into place. A lack of a belt-sander cost me getting this done this weekend.

Regardless I think things look pretty good! I also put up boards (3/4" plywood) for the electronics and RODI unit.

The second picture shows where the sump will go and the return pumps. The 3rd picture shows where the two 55 gallon RODI and Salt Water drums go as well as the spot the RODI unit will hang. The 1st picture shows where the sink sits (see the plumbing under the cabinet).

I'm not sure if you've heard back from BRS, but their reef saver rocks fits together quite seemlessly if the time is taken to put them together. Perhaps they thought you could make the islands shapes with the smaller pieces they sent you?
