Troy's 270 Gallon plus Fishroom

Oh... and here are my existing parameters... I'm not measuring everything just yet..

Temp 77.2 to 78.5
PH 8.00 to 8.20
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Calcium 550
Mg 1,450
Salt 1.026
Alk/DH 6.8

Looks great. Still can't decide if I look the looks of flex PVC piping or not. Must really cut down on head loss and make life easier to plumb these things.

Fish list looks good, no red flags to me.

It does cut down, although that wasn't my challenge. My challenge was the fact my tank and sump are so close vertically but I had to get through the wall which is actually a very 'thick' wall (10" plus sheetrock). I really didn't want any (or many) 90 deg or 45 deg angles in the plumbing... especially in just tight corners...

I love the schooling bannerfish! If you get them just make sure you can tell the difference between Heniochus acuminatus and H. diphreutes. The acuminatus are generally considered not reef safe while the diphreutes are, but they look VERY similar. Regardless, beautiful fish while being a much safer alternative to something like a moorish idol.

I found this thread through the fish room thread on the DIY board. Love the tank, I really love the tank room and all the work you put into it!

Thanks!! i'll try and get an update this week on the fish room... I've got the frag tank all up and running and will be putting in the QT this week..

Going really good, must very busy at work. I've not had much, if any, time for an update. Been adding lots of coral and a couple fish. The QT tank is about cycled as well. I'll try and put up,pictures later this week with a more detailed update.

Ok... here is an update with some pictures.

Been out buying frags to get some coral going in the tank over the past two weeks. Also have the Fuge up and running with some Cheato. Also added a couple Mocha Clown fish (babies). Was a bit worried as I have a very large Clown that is a bit aggressive at times; but he took to the babies in seconds and is playing father-figure with them!

Lastly... the QT tank is cycled!!! Wahoo, now my next focus will be to begin to get some new fish. Probably going to start with some Blue Chromis (6) and some Respondent Anthias (6) to get some schools going... any suggestions!

Here is a picture of the QT tank, my lights, and the fan I put between the canopy and my equipment room. I've got the fan wired into the Apex to pull the heat out of the canopy and put it into the eq. room once the temp hits 80. Works VERY well!

So... the Fish room is pretty much completed with just some art that will go up on the walls soon. We now have a couch and chair in the room so we can RELAX while watching the tank!

Here is a movie of the tank, room, and some new additions sitting in the QT right now! Watch the whole video and I'll go into the equipment room as well as showing off the tank and viewing room!

What is everyone's experience with LiveAqarium? I ordered and received some Blue Chromis, some Anthias, and a Goby yesterday and three of the six Anthias arrived dead, the other three didn't make it through the night, and I'm worried the Workman goby won't make it either. All of the fish bags smelled horribly of ammonia when opened.

Ive used them numerous times and the only online dealer i will use. they will always make good on the doas. did you call them yet and let them know? i also always pay extra for earliest delivery possible or i will pick it up at the dedex office. either way they will make good on your order.

How big is your qt? youre going to need to start putting some fish in the dt before the qt gets cramped.

They were great when I called and immediately gave me a refund. No complaints there. They shipped Friday afternoon and arrived by 930am so that wasn't the problem.

Yes, I can't add any more to the qt tank until I move them to the dt. The qt is 24 x 24 x 24. 45 or 50 gallons I believe.

Thats great! I think they have the best customer service...no hassles or 20 questions about how you acclimated them. I read a thread where a guy called in to file a claim on some doa's he received and when they asked about how the rest of the shipment was holding up, he told the girl that one more looked like it wasnt going to make it and they refunded the money for that as well. The fish in question ended up surviving and he called back to give them the money back but they wouldnt take it from him. You cant beat that for service!!!!

Nice! I plan in giving them another shot!
