Hey Troy- Just tagging along with your build. Awesome tank by the way! ! Did you cure your dry rock prior to moving your live stock from your other tank?
I was using dosing pumps on my smaller system... 80g twv before switching over to a ca reactor on my current system. I found that with the dosing pumps the lines would get clogged, the suction line would stop drawing and one time i turned the pump outlet on by accident from my phone. fortunately it was for mag so i didnt have any problems. i tried a bunch of 2 part solutions including brs kits but the only one that i had the most consistency with was ESV B-bionic. I love the reactor that i got and it has been a set and forget. my alk and ca levels have been rock solid and the only thing i do is check the pressure on the co2 tank. it was an expensive purchase but a great investment.

Love the rockwork......also wish I had a 36" deep tank...mine is 72" x 24" d x 29" height (215 gal Oceanic Ultimate tank).....love the extra depth.
The extra depth was my primary requirement in my design thoughts. It really makes an amazing difference in a tank!

if power goes out, why does light matter, I would think you want circulation to ensure there is proper oxygen circulating while the power is out.
I'm kinda thinking that, but the corals might need light if the outage goes long.
Define "long"? Your corals had to travel in pitch black to get to your home or fish store in the first place. They can go a few days without any light, possibly more.
