TRS robbed

I just read on FB that someone emptied The Reef Shoppe of most of their high-end corals and equipment. A lot of those show tank corals are unique and recognizable, please be on the lookout.

Wow, that completely sucks. I can't imagine that there is a ton to be gained in stealing these things and then reselling them with a low profile.

As far as I know, they never caught the yokels that robbed ARC.

yea I wanted to ask if they ever caught the person that robbed ARC like 6 months ago ...

there was some talk on here that they found alot of the stuff in someones house ?

Here is the exact FB post from Tom @ TRS

Well. I can say I've had better mornings...

TRS was robbed last night. We were hit HARD.

We came into the shop today to discover that some very skilled people had pretty much emptied the shop of many of our most valuable corals, and high end equipment.

The shop is pretty thrashed, too.

I'd like to say to these thieves that they did a wonderful job. I give them credit, it was well thought out with amazing execution. They took an incredible monetary value, as well as some creatures that I've known for half my life or more.

I'd also like to wish them well, as they certainly will need it. Karma is a much more powerful force than myself, the police or any mortals.

These thieves have not stolen from a shop.... They have stolen from me, they have stolen from my tireless, family.

Many of you would recognize some of the missing corals. Please keep your eyes out for leads as to who may have done this. I'm sure some will surface on the boards, eBay, Craigs list etc.

As sir Robert Nesta Marley once said:

WHO THE CAP FITS, LET THEM WEAR IT..

I was about to post something on Craigslist re: the robbery but perhaps it would be best to keep quiet and let them do it.

Wow. I feel bad for Tom. First he loses Madison to what he believes was a brain tumor, and now this.... Might have to frag up a few of the things I traded with him over the years to get him back goin again.

While it will in no way lessen the feelings of being violated, I'm sure he has insurance to cover his monetary set back.

Tom gave a ton of his really good stuff to the museum for my/their tanks. I have no idea who is even still there to take care of them but I wish I was there to at the very least frag some of his rare torches and stuff back.

Hang in there Tom, sending lots of love from St Louis.

Also its crazy that I was just in ARC on mon talking to Randy O about his robbery experience. Hope Tom has better luck with finding the culprits and getting money out of the insurance company, Randy def got screwed.

Not always true; it's hard to explain to an insurance company that even though a said coral was purchased at one price, exponential growth of said coral increased price by x amount. To some extent, the prices of coral are subjective and IMO at the very best he'll be lucky to get the wholesale invoiced cost(s) back.

Regardless, it's hard to put a price on corals like the bulbus torch, pink watermelon chalices and all the other amazing colonies he's grown for years. At that point, it's about sentiment, not dollars.

From what little I know about the TRS robbery, it sounds incredibly similar to the incident at ARC and I definitely have my suspicions. Hopefully they catch these douches asap.

Did they ever catch the guys from the ARC robbery? It seemed like people had a pretty good idea of who they were.

I used to install and operate security cameras, and provide the video to the police. It was shocking how inept they were when it came to catching criminals we had clearly identified. In one case we provided them with the perps address, class and work schedule, and cell phone number. The cops said they could never catch up to them.

If you want real security, bar the windows and bolt the doors. Cameras are nice, but unless you go vigilante, nothings going to happen to the criminals.

If you want real security leave 2 trained Rottweilers in the store every night. When you find the low-life(s) cowering in the corner the following morning take 'em in the back room at gun point and let them go for a swim in your special tank full of box jellyfish, blue ringed octopi and sea snakes.
