True Percula from Solomon Island or Papua/New Guinea?

I was looking to buy some True Percula from this site:

Can anyone recommend this site?

I was wondering the difference between the True Percula from Solomon Island and the one from Papua/New Guinea since they list them separately. Does anyone have photos of the differences?

At first I was reluctant about getting a fish online since I can't see it's coloring or size but our LFS doesn't seem to carry the True Perculas often nor do they get that many.

I was looking to get a small school but am unsure about how they will get along. If I get 3+ of them at the same time while they are all young will they be ok in a 29g? How many do you guys recommend? What is the most that I should get?

if you want some awesome percs check out rods-reef.com. these fish will be healthier than their wc counterparts and have patterns and colors that are just as bright.
clowns dont normally school. there will be a dominant male/female pair with a number of sexually immature juveniles present. unless you have the largest of tanks with an equally large anemone I dont see this working in the home aquarium. get two and form a pair.
 
I would recommend just the two percs and maybe a small goby type fish. Definitely not three clowns. One would be lonely and lucky not to be killed.
 
SI percs are often more of a lighter color orange than PNG percs.

PNG percs also USUALLY have more black than SI percs, almost all of them will have black connecting the front bar to the second.

Personally I prefer PNG percs ... the only downside I've seen personally is PNG percs tend to come in less healthy than SI ... I dont know if this is a universal thought or what, but from my personal experience you might lose 1 out of 5 SI pers to 3 of 5 PNG's to internal parasites and Brook.
 
Same experience as above. Some of the PNG come in with coloring of the Black Onyx color. They arrive either all healthy or all sick. I have had no trouble with the 14 day stay alive from live aquaria. I also feed fresh garlic in the food for a few days when they arrive before they go into their main tank. I keep a no fish tank and spead my orders out with 45 days between orders to break the parasite cycle.
 
Yes I was gonna mention your more likley to get onyx colors from PNG too... but I'm sure Live aquaria probably separates those and sells them at onyx prices.
 
Thanks for the responses! I am interested in Onyx clowns and have contacted Rods-Reef but they are not ready yet and I don't know if I should get such expensive fish in a tank that has not been running very long. Maybe when we upgrade to the 180g I will try and get a pair of Onyx. If the PNG are more like Onyx with more black then I am defintely interested in paying a few dollars more but it is kind of concerning about the health of the fish. Does anyone else have an experience that they can share? How are these sites in regards to exchanges in the event that a fish dies upon arrival or shortly after? I see the site I posted says 14-day gurantee , but is it a difficult process or no questions asked type of thing?
 
I'd waite for rods if you want onyx... they are gonna be 100 times hardier than a wild caught! much better to put in a new tank than a wild caught.

The PNG you get from live aquaria will not be onyx ... dont get that impression. If you ordered them as a wholesaler more onyx come in from PNG than SI thats all I was saying. Live aquaria will take out all that qualify as onyx and sell them as onyx.

The PNG from live aquaria will probably look like the clowns pictured on the site... black in the front and orange in the back.

Live aquaria has a great rep for customer service, they stick to their 14 day gurantee as long as it was not something stupid like "oh I left it on the table out of the bag for 14 days and it did not survive...gimme my money" but if they get sick and die in 14 days they refund or send you another.
 
dont bother pm'ing him. there is a toll free number on his site or at least there used to be. call him and talk to him in person. he is a great guy and his customer service is top notch. if you cant call him send him an email.
