TRUE Western Australian Personifer Angelfish on LA tonight!!!

$1200 is about right for a true personifer. The price tag reflects rarity, not beauty per say. I tread lightly when it comes to discussing prices on Diver Den fish; there are certain posters that go into attack mode whenever there are differing opinions on what a fish costs.

Yes:)...I saw it last Friday and must say, it is one nice fish (believe he was on hold)! By the way, your Tinkeri Butterfly is doing awesome:lol2:....

Awesome to hear that the Tinkerii is doing well, I knew it was in good hands. Continued luck with it.

Honestly thats a lot cheaper than I was expecting. Not saying I'd pay that much, but considering this is the first time theyve been available in the states in, what, forever?...

Hmmm... I wonder what this means for the 6 or 7 other True Perfs. that are headed down the pipe, if this one took a little time to sell. I kinda was expecting it to be an instant-sell, esp. since the price was half of the guesstimates in the other thread.

Another totally overpriced fish IMO and not as good looking as the Meridithi which is available for a fraction of the price. Truly a fish for the person who has to be the first on the block.

How can it be overpriced when it sold so quickly? Supply and demand. It was a fair price for someone evidently.

Ah, yes. Market clearing price is that price for which someone can sell a good in the market. Thus it is not overpriced for the market, just too expensive for some.

the price is high
and from the info i got from the Australian collector i know there are a lot of them
thy go for less than i can get a black tang from the Hawaii suppler i know

I wonder if some big males with full blue masks will get posted, or if they'll just be sold "behind the scenes"...

None on the sneak peak today... Interesting why one was available before the others. Though understandable that those big males are probably harder to get eating strongly.

This one's only a toddler... the adult is not an ugly fish.

Incidentally, the regal angelfish was sold before you could say Pygoplites :)

It would be cool to see a big male with the almost all black caudal fin and spotted face. I don't think any of them shown on their facebook page had the black caudal fin yet. Also keep in mind these get about 10cm larger than the meredithi, so a big male would be a site to see.

I understand both supply and demand and market economics, if someone buys it it isnt overpriced for them, yea I get it. I just dont understand what kind of rube buys a fish for a gazillion dollars when it is virtually indistinguishable for a fish that is moderately priced. Would you pay big bucks for a rare damsel that looked just like yellowtail? I would say if you have that kind of money to [profanity] away you should be giving it to charity instead of this kind of foolishness.

People do.

A flashing chromis, that looks identical to a yellowtail damsel sold for almost $200 about a year ago on DD.

Two things in terms of the rubes. Either you worked your way to having the flow to spend on these fish, in which case, power to ya' and enjoy spending your money how ever you desire. Or you are born/come into money, which is the way the cookie crumbles. In which case, lucky you, spend your money how you like.
